IRA At Wilmot Saturday
by Paul Pittman

The Bumper to Bumper / United Trailers IRA Outlaw Sprints go trackside this Saturday night, May 20th, at the Wilmot (WI) Speedway on the grounds of the Kenosha Co. Fair for the annual Wayne Daun Memorial. IRA events at Wilmot traditionally draw big fields and great crowds. Though early in the season, the IRA point standings are as tight as they can possibly be. Just a few points seperate the top 7 of Kim Mock, Mike Reinke, Scotty Neitzel, Steve Meyer, Bill Warren, Travis Whitney, and Donny Goeden. Cars representing WI, IL, MN, & MI are expected.

Wayne Daun was the father of long time IRA racer and board member Todd Daun.   While on the road during a Michigan swing with IRA a few years back,  the popular and always upbeat Wayne unexpectedly suffered a heart attack and passed away during the night, just a few short hours after he and a large number of IRA teams gathered at the host hotel following a partial rain-out at Butler, with the shows completion being scheduled for the following day. The IRA has chose to remember Wayne since his passing by running this race in his honor at the track located closest to his southeast Wisconsin home. IRA and the Wilmot Speedway are proud to continue the tradition this Saturday.
