IRA Qualifying Sweetened in 2006
by Paul Pittman

McHenry, IL:  The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints winged/410 series utilizes qualifying at the overwhelming majority of its' events. A few years back IRA went from a basic 6 car A-main invert, to a 10 car redraw featuring the night's 4 heat race winners plus the fastest 6 qualifiers who transferred thru their heat. Some complained, though the system has proven to work as action in IRA heat races is second to none.  Well, qualifying will be rewarded tremendously this year, though it won't be through a format change. IRA is pleased to announce that long time series supporter and 2004 IRA Member of the Year Award winner Dean Osborn will have his company, Osborn & Son Trucking present $200 per race night to the fastest IRA member in qualifying. Yes, you must be a card carrying member to be eligible, though memberships for drivers or owners who are not running for points are only $50.

In addition to Dean's generosity, Stevie B's Landscaping is putting up $500 for the most Fast Times accumulated throughout the course of the year, while another long time IRA backer, TW Metals, is putting up $500 for the driver who earns the most Fast Time points throughout the season. Fast Time is worth 10 points, with 2nd quick being 8 points, and then dropping by 1 down to 8th fast.

All American Caps N' Liners, who has been a fast time presenter at some IRA events, will focus their post season awards to the heat races, awarding the driver capturing the most heat race checkered flags. All American has provided a cap or lid for the IRA Pace Truck since 1997.
