IRA Gears Up For Busy Week
by Paul Pittman
McHenry, IL: The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series kicks
off a busy Labor Day Weekend early, with a Tuesday night August 30th show at
the Powercom SpeedZone in Oshkosh, WI. The ultra-wide, very fast
third-mile is one of the more popular venues among the full time IRA teams.
The Oshkosh event is tied into the track's Championship night for it's regular
divisions so while IRA will contest a full show complete with qualifying, the
regular divisions will run only B and A-mains. IRA hotlaps are slated
for 6 PM.
Then on Saturday September 3rd IRA makes it's traditional stop at the Grant
Co. Speedway located in the southwest Wisconsin town of Lancaster. It too is a
favorite of many teams and the third-mile has been the site of many an
exciting show over the past several years. The track is located directly in
town, less than a mile away from the Lancaster town square.
Then on Sunday September 4th, the IRA series travels about an hour and a half
northwest, moving into Iowa for another traditional date, this being at the
Cresco Speedway located on the Howard County Fairgrounds. This banked
four-tenths produces some extremely high speeds. The Cresco Speedway is
located in town as well, just west of the downtown.
Scotty Neitzel leads Scott Young, and Joe Roe in the championship points chase
with seven races remaining on the points calendar beginning with Oshkosh.
Schoenfeld 112535 mufflers are required at Oshkosh and Lancaster, while open
headers are the norm at Cresco.
For complete scheduling information and series rules, please visit the IRA's

Admission and ticket information should be obtained from the individual track
