Top Teams Gear-Up For Kenosha County Fair
Kenosha, WI: The 2005 Kenosha County Fair is all about returning to its
roots, and that includes bringing back big time racing o the south-eastern
Wisconsin speed plant. The Kenosha County Fair Board is extending
a personal “Welcome Back” to its long time supporters and fans by
presenting “The Bagerland Late Model Shootout” on Thursday night, August
18th. Managed by Joe Roe and Steve Sinclair for the Kenosha County
Fair Board, the “Shootout” promises to be an event that is long overdue
for fans attending the fair. First and foremost is the admission price
to the race. THERE IS NONE! That’s right; admission to this huge
Late Model event is FREE to anyone with a regular fair admission. “I
have been getting calls from top late model drivers and teams from Wisconsin,
Iowa, Illinois and Indiana about this event,” stated Roe. “The
closer we get, and the more word gets out exactly what is going on, the more
that they want to be a part of it. A lot of drivers haven’t been here
for years.” Northeast Wisconsin Late Model Ace Gordie Seegert Jr.
echoed Roe’s enthusiasm, adding that he remembers the last time he competed
there; he was involved in an incident and ended up in the pit area.
“That was a long time ago,” commented Seegert, “and from what I have
heard, a lot of things have changed down there including the layout of the
track. I am really looking forward to getting back there.”
On Friday night, (Aug 19), the Kenosha County Fair comes right back with the
Interstate Racing Association Outlaw Sprint Series which will feature a huge
car count, expected to be in excess of 40 cars. Admission for the IRA
Outlaw Sprint Car races is only $5.00 with your regular fair admission
ticket. 2-time IRA Champion Kim Mock, who cut his teeth there, is
another driver excited about the return of sprint car racing to the Kenosha
County Fair. During the recent Knoxville Nationals, Mock commented
“I’m just thrilled that Joe (Roe) and Steve (Sinclair) made all this
happen and I’m just happy to be a part of it. The fans really deserve
it.” Mock, who was involved in a hair raising crash during Sunday
afternoon’s event at the Knoxville Nationals, was intending to have his show
car on display for fans, however, damage to the primary car was too severe and
so a return of the beautiful green and white #1M is planned.
“There will be no support divisions and all the action will be happening
very quickly,” stated Roe about the event’s schedule. “Hot laps
are scheduled to start at 6pm on both nights and we will be moving the races
along as fast as humanly possible so fans can get back out and enjoy the fair
or the live music that is scheduled for both nights after the races. I
also have to thank Miller Brewing and their local distributor, CJW
Incorporated. FATTFRO Motorsports and Jensen Towing are also a big
part in making all of this happen.” For more information, call
