Flaig And Reichenberger Join Winners List
By Scott Owen

Clintonville,WI,6/22--Justin Flaig and Brandon Reichenberger picked up their first wins of the season at the GSR Kartway this week.  Talon Laabs, Parker May, Alex Stumpf, Brett Swedberg, Cheyenne Cameron, Johnny Whitman, Kyle Lentz, and Shannon Peters also added to their win lists for the season.  The track was in excellent condition for two wide racing and the weather was perfect.  Eighty racers competed on Tires Plus night at the races.

The angry swarm of bees, known as the kiddie kart class, kicked off the feature racing.  It proved to be an ultra competitive event.  Kelin Charles won both heat races for the class and started on the pole. Charles jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag.  Behind Charles, Talon Laabs began making his way through traffic.  Laabs was able to pull even with the leader on lap eight.  On lap nine Laabs pulled to the high side of the track entering turn one and was into the top spot by the time he reached the back stretch.  Charles would not give up the chase and followed closely behind Laabs as the race wound down.  Laabs was able to fend off the charges of Charles to grab the win.  Charles took second in front of Skyler Woods and Cole Kuske. Brayden Litton rounded out the top five.

Next on the track was the box stock division.  Parker May started on the pole and lead the entire race.  Mike Moeller worked his way up from his fifth starting position to finish in the second spot.  Hunter Parsons finished in third.  Casey Sommers was fourth, and Ricky Kalfert had a very strong run to finish in the fifth spot.  May, Moeller, and Nic Page won the heat races.

Brandon Reichenberger was like butter, he was on roll, in the controlled stock class.  He picked up both heat race wins and was virtually unchallenged in the feature event.  The best battle on the track was for the second spot.  Ryan Hinner was tailed by Eric Klafka, who was within inches of Hinner's rear bumper.  Hinner ran a flawless race to finish in second, just in front of Klafka.  Ashlee Glocke and Hinner picked up the other heat race wins.

In the junior one feature, Alex Stumpf wasted no time getting to the front.  Stumpf started in the third spot, and was the leader of the race by the end of the first lap.  Jesse Colwell jumped into the second spot but would stay a few kart lengths behind Stumpf for the entire race.  Stumpf rolled to another feature win,  Colwell held on to finish in second, Darren Jackson took third.  Jackson and Austin Breier won the evenings heat races.

In the stock medium feature Joe Reuter, Jordan Reinke, and Brett Swedberg fought for the win.  Reuter was the early leader, but it didn't take Swedberg long to grab the lead.  Reinke and Reuter continued to battle for second.  Reinke's night came to an end on lap eleven as he was called for his second caution of the race.  Marcus Yarie capitalized on the caution to jump into the second spot. Swedberg would get the win.  Yarie took second in front of Reuter. Reinke and Reuter won the heat races.

The junior two feature was once again the Cheyenne Cameron show, as she lead for the entire race.  Outside front row starter Dakota Quaintance got crossed up on the start and fell back to the tenth spot on lap one.  Josh Long and Brandon Thurber were locked in a battle for second throughout the race.  Quaintance went to work, methodically passing karts, working his way back to the front of the field.  At the end Cameron coasted to victory.  Thurber finished in second, while Quaintance worked his way back through the field to finish in third. Quaintance, Cameron, Long, and Thurber won the heats.

In junior animal action, Ben Stumpf won both heat races and started on the pole.  Stumpf grabbed the lead at the start of the race and held the spot until lap six when Johnny Whitman snuck by.  Stumpf would not let Whitman out of his sight but was not able to make a pass to take backe the lead.  Whitman was folled across the finish line by Stumpf, Aaron Milavitz, and Justin Kraeger.

Brett Swedberg started on the pole and took the lead on lap one.  He held the spot until lap four when Cody Wunderlich took over the top spot.  Wunderlich would hold the lead for only one lap as Justin Flaig took the lead over.  At the time Swedberg also moved around Wunderlich for second.  Flaig led for the duration of the race to pick up his first win of the year.  Swedberg took second, Wunderlich finished in third.  Swedberg won both of the heat races run.

Justin Anthony was the early leader in the WKA animal class.  Anthony was pressured by brother Brad Anthony and Kyle Lentz in the early going.  Kyle Lentz took the lead on lap three only to have it taken away as a caution came out.  Justin Anthony restarted out front.  Brad Anthony spun by himself while running in second on the fourth lap. Finally, on lap seven, Lentz took the lead from Justin Anthony.  Lentz led the rest of the way for the win.  Justin Anthony took second in front of Jason Jach.  Justin Anthony and Lentz won the heat races.

Brian Peters set the pace early on in the lawnmower feature and looked to be on his way to a victory when his machine died on lap four.  Shannon Peters took over the lead and never looked back.  Peters finished in front of Ty Rindt and Chad Peters.

Action will continue next Wednesday, June twenty ninth at seven o'clock.  The races will be followed by a fireworks display.  The GSR Kartway is located just west of Clintonville on highway forty five.
