Ten Karters Qualify For State Championship
By Scott Owen
Clintonville, WI, May 25 -- Seventy eight racers were on hand for Marion
A-Maze-Ment Park night at the races at the GSR Kartway to do battle on the
fast eighth mile oval. It was a lovely evening for racing with
temperatures in the mid sixties. It was also the first of two state
championship race qualifying events at the track. The top finishing kart
that was not previously qualified for the state race gained the right to race
at Monsterworld kartway for the state championship event. The evening
got off to a scary start as box stock competitor Don Uherka III rolled his
kart over during hot laps. He was checked over at the local hospital,
and has some bruises but no major injuries. The feature action started
with the kiddie kart class. Cole Kuske dominated the event to pick up
the win. Skyler Woods finished second in front of Brayden Litton and Tom
Spierowski. Hunter Parsons was the early leader in the box stock
division. Parker May soon grabbed the lead and ran away for the
win. Nic Page finished second and qualified for the state race.
Casey Steiger finished third in the race. Marcus Yarie beat out Joe
Reuter in the stock light class to qualify for the state championship
race. Josh Crick was the only WKA animal heavy karter on hand so he got
the bid to Monsterworld. The controlled stock feature was won by Ryan
Hinner. The battle for second was a good one. Angie Muenster
eventually beat out Chris VanSwol, Brandon Reichenberger, and Chantel
Wunderlich to finish in second. Hinner was the state race
qualifier. Alex Stumpf was once again the dominant kart in the junior
one class. Stumpf picked up his third win in as many nights of racing at
the track. Jesse Colwell worked his way up from his fifth starting spot
to grab second. Darren Jackson was third. Stumpf punched his
ticket to the state race with the win. Kyle Lentz was untouchable in the
Stock medium feature. Andrew Hock and Brett Swedberg were locked in a
battle for second all race long. In the end Hock was second, Swedberg
third, Joe Reuter finished fourth. Lentz had already qualified for the
state race so Hock will now advance. Cheyenne Cameron won the junior two
feature to qualify for the state race. Dakota Quaintance finished second
in front of his brother Kirk who grabbed third. Johnny Whitman became
the third differant winner this season in the animal junior class.
Whitman's win got him into the state race also. Aaron Milavitz bested
Ben Stumpf in the end to finish second. Justin Kraeger and Quintin
Mory-Pagel rounded out the top five. Brett Swedberg won the stock heavy
feature by a country mile over Justin Heiting and Brian Page. Swedberg
is now qualified for the state race also. Kyle Lentz made it two for two
on the night by winning the WKA animal feature. Justin Anthony finished
a strong second. Nathan Horsens prevailed in a battle for third with
Brad Anthony. Horsens was also the state race qualifier in this
race.
