Lentz, Stumpf, And Parsons Dominate Opening Night At GSR
By Scott Owen
Clintonville, WI, May 4--The GSR Kartway kicked off its season Wednesday night
with a strong field of 73 racers on hand. The evening was highlighted by
impressive performances from Hunter Parsons and Kyle Lentz. The track
itself was hard, dry, and dust-free. These conditions made for a fast
track all night long.
The kiddie kart feature was the first to run. Second year racer Hunter
Parsons started on the pole and proved untouchable throughout the entire
race. He lead all twelve laps and won by nearly three quarters of a
track. Next up was the box stock class. Tristan Peebles started on
the pole and was the early leader. Second place starter Parker May
proved to be too tough though and took the lead away from Peebles as the race
wore on. Mike Moeller closed in on May's rear bumper towards the end of
the race but could not make a pass for the lead. May was able to hold on
for the win. In the controlled stock class Chantel Wunderlich
grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag. She was pressured all
race long by the likes of Ryan Hinner, Brandon Reichenberger, and Angie
Muenster. Wunderlich had a wonderful run and captured the
win. In the junior one feature Alex Stumpf started on the pole and never
looked back. Jesse Colwell finished a distant second. Kyle Lentz
dominated both the WKA animal class and the stock medium features. In
junior two action, pole sitter Matt Kretschman had to fend of the charges of
Alex Hock, Josh Long, and Cheyenne Cameron. As the race wound down Hock
was right on the rear bumper of Kretschman. Hock had to settle for
second though as Kretschman got the win. In the animal junior class Ben
Stumpf picked up the win, with Aaron Milavitz right on his tail for the last
half of the race. Brett Swedberg lead the entire stock heavy
feature. Justin Flaig had a strong run to finish second. Finishing
out the night was the lawn mower class. Ty Rindt was able to pick up the
win over Bill Zera.
The action continues every Wednesday night throughout the summer. Start
time is seven o'clock.
