Huse, Pehler Collect First Feature Wins

(Arcadia, WI) – There’s nothing quite like a driver’s very first feature
win.
This past Friday evening two FOX RIDGE SPEEDWAY regulars were finally able to
thrust their arms into the air and celebrate in Victory Lane.
Bloomer, Wisconsin’s Shawn Huse put an exclamation point at the end of his
evening, passing Troy Langowski late in the 18-lap WISSOTA Super Stock feature
in order to collect the win. “I didn’t want to have to go to the bottom
unless I had to go to the bottom because, if I spend too much time down there,
I eat my tires up,” commented Huse after using the high groove, almost
exclusively, to pick up his first feature win, “But Troy was running right
where I wanted to be, and he was running well so I had to run a bit lower if I
wanted to get around him.”
Once he made his move, Huse was able to quickly complete the pass; and then it
was right back up to the top of the banking en route to the checkered flags.
Huse and Langowski, second and first heat race winners respectively, finished
first and second followed by Rodney Dregney, Troy Brand and Gary Wiersgalla.
Similar to Huse’s double win night, Fountain City, Wisconsin racer James
“Bud” Pehler followed up his heat race win with an unchallenged run to his
first ever feature win in the WISSOTA Midwest Modified Division. “Oh, we got
her setup now,” smiled Pehler after collecting the checkered flag, “I was
able to enter the turns up high and then exit down low, and the car was just
like a rocket.”
Eyota’s Harlan Morehart was able to stay close to Pehler’s black #13 early
in the feature, but never was able to get up along side or even begin to offer
a solid challenge for the lead. After struggling through the pack second heat
race winner Dan Hesch was able to pass Morehart for second but simply ran out
of laps before he could close the gap between himself and Pehler. Hesch and
Morehart finished second and third, followed by Jeff Ringenberg with Ryan
Olson rounding out the top-five.
Les Duellman continued his perfect season winning both the second USRA
Modified heat race and his fifth straight feature at FOX RIDGE SPEEDWAY. After
entering the season late, Duellman has been unstoppable winning every single
race he’s started.
Early in the feature event, Duellman had to fend off challenges by first
heat-race winner John Doelle, but after mechanical troubles ended Doelle’s
night early, Duellman waltzed the rest of the way to victory with almost an
entire straight away lead over the battle for second between Rick Hauser and
Tim Donlinger.
Hauser was able to hold onto the position, leading Donlinger to the checkered
flag for second with Ron Britain and Ron Schreiner completing the top-five.
A couple weeks away from Victory Lane had Travis Krause ready for another win.
“We’ve been trying some different things with our setup over the past few
weeks,” offered Krause after winning his fourth feature of the season,
“some were minor changes, some were major changes. Even tonight we’d tried
a few new or different things, but what we had tonight worked perfectly.”
Krause was challenged hard, and often, for the lead by Shaun Wehlage before
the motor in Wehlage’s #100 blew on the closing laps, dropping him to the
rear of the field. Second heat-race winner Tom Hund inherited the second place
finish followed by last week’s feature winner Danny Hanson. Andy Bohnstengel
beat Kevin Hager in a hard fought battle for fourth and fifth which lasted the
entire feature event.
Mike Knops made it three wins in three weeks, winning the Pure Stock event.
Michael Harsh and Chris Endle finished second and third.
