Roach Rocks At Fergus Falls Raceway

(FERGUS FALLS, MN) August 22nd--NASCAR Midwest Series driver Bryan Roach
capped off a prevailing night with a stimulating finish in the ASA Late Model
Feature at the Fergus Falls Raceway. Trent Snyder looked strong from the start
of the race, but it was Roach that came charging from his mid-pack starting
spot to take the lead. A number of cautions, one of which was caused by track
owner Tim Olson’s car having flames in the rear. Olson was uninjured and got
right back into the action eventually finishing seventh. Three cautions slowed
the event, allowing Trent Snyder and Blake Bjorklund to stay within winning
distance. Roach quickly got things going with a small distance to the finish
line. Snyder seized his opportunity and pushed hard on the throttle, but the
gap was too wide and he wound up with a respectable second place finish.
Oren Hoeper took his untamed ride to victory lane in the Modified Feature.
Hoeper started near the front of the field and after several laps of chasing
Harlan Lysne, he was at the front of the pack. Once in front, Hoeper pulled
away from everyone in a hurry. The battle behind Hoeper was intense as Jason
Hintermeister moved to second, with Harlan Lysne in third. Without the aid of
a caution, all Hintermeister and Lysne could do was keep their positions, as
Hoeper took the win by a relatively large margin.
Cory Lease was all smiles when he won the Great North Legends Feature, after
finishing near the front many times during previous races this season. Lease
made a few quick moves as he got by Tim Brockhouse on the opening laps to take
the top spot. Just behind, Jay Rickert and Jon Lewerer were both trying to
make a run to the front. Rickert and Lewerer swapped spots several times as
they raced right on Lease’s bumper. The leader was unfazed by all the action
and Lease turned in the race the best race of his season as he took the Great
North Legends Feature win.
Adam Fronning continued his stride towards a Championship season seeing that
he once again found himself the winner in the UCAR Feature. Fronning acted
quickly making his way to the front in the race as rigid competition behind
made for an exciting race for the fans. Fronning sprinted to the win and made
it look easy. Matt Ness held off Josh Whipple to finish second, while Shawn
Kugler filled in the fourth position.
In the Thunder Cars, Shawn Robinson made his way by Mark Milbeck late in the
race, but early enough to seize the win. Milbeck took the lead front the
start, but the lead wasn’t completely his, considering that Shawn Robinson
was battling door-to-door for it as well. As Milbeck continued to demonstrate
the way, Robinson made his move that made him the new leader, with Milbeck and
Cory Eggen behind at the finish.
