Roach Squeezes Out Win At Fergus Falls Raceway

(FERGUS FALLS, MN) August 15th--NASCAR Midwest Series driver Bryan Roach
capped off a dominant night with a thrilling finish in the ASA Late Model
Feature at the Fergus Falls Raceway. Randin Olson looked strong from the start
of the race, but it was Roach that came blasting from his mid-pack starting
spot to take the lead. Several cautions slowed the event allowing Trent Snyder
and Blake Bjorklund to stay within striking distance. Roach had a somewhat
comfortable lead on the final lap, but two cars at the tail end of the lead
lap, made contact just out of turn four. Roach slammed on the brakes as he
tried to avoid Molly Rhoads. Roach quickly got things going with only 50 feet
to the finish line. Snyder seized the opportunity, pushed hard on the throttle
and came up just inches short as he pulled alongside Roach as the pair crossed
the finish line.
Oren "The Wild Child" Hoeper took his wild ride to the front in a
hurry as he won the Modified Feature. Hoeper started shotgun on the field and
within no time, he was at the front of the pack. Once in front Hoeper pulled
away from everyone. Back in the pack, the racing was much more intense as Jon
Lewerer moved to second, with Dave Ostendorf in third. Without the aid of a
caution, all Lewerer and Ostendorf could do was chase, as Hoeper took the win
by nearly a half of a lap margin.
Rick Dubay was all smiles as he won his first career Great North Legends
Feature. Dubay made a few quick moves as he got by Gary Oie on the opening
laps as he took the top spot. Just behind, Andy Hanson and Cory Lease were
both trying to make a run to the front. Hanson and Lease swapped spots several
times as they raced right on Dubay’s tail. The leader was unfazed with all
of this action and Dubay turned in the race of his life as took his first ever
Legends feature win.
Adam Fronning continued his march towards a Championship as he won the UCAR
Feature. Earlier in the evening, Fronning set fast time as the UCARs qualified
for the first time this year. Fronning quickly made his way to the front in
the feature as tight racing behind made for an exciting race. Fronning
practically put his car on cruise control as he ran to the win. Matt Ness held
of Dan Bolstad to finish second, while Sam Hanson took home fourth.
Mark Milbeck wasn’t even sure that he would be racing this season, but the
former UCAR driver switched divisions and it was well worth it as he took the
Thunder Car Feature win. Milbeck took the lead fairly quickly as the race for
second was a door handle-to-door handle race between Cory Eggen and Shawn
Robinson. As Milbeck continued to show the way, Eggen held second right in his
shadow and Robinson tried numerous times to make a run off the bottom of the
track. The top three completed the distance without incident as Milbeck took
win, followed by Eggen and Robinson.
