Rich Snyder Sprints To Win At Fergus Falls Raceway

(FERGUS FALLS, MN) August 8th--Rich Snyder turned in a stellar performance as
he won the ASA Late Model Feature at the Fergus Falls Raceway. At the
beginning of the race, it was former Track Champion Dan Darco who went to the
early lead. A caution on lap five brought the pack together and the restart
saw Mark Grewe leap out front. A threat was on its way as "The Big Dawg"
Bryan Roach was moving through the pack, along with Trent and Rich Snyder.
Rich Snyder found his way to the front after Roach brought out a caution with
a flat tire. On the restart, the cars were single file up with Rich Snyder,
followed by Trent Snyder, Black Bjorklund and Randin Olson showing the way.
The front four spread out and it was now Trent and Rich Snyder in a clash for
the lead. Rich stayed just a notch ahead and went home with the win, followed
by Trent Snyder, Bjorklund and Olson.
Jay "The Rocket" Rickert took advantage of others misfortunes and
powered his way to the win in the Great North Legends Feature. Jon Lewerer got
off to a good start, when he took himself to the early lead. Todd Tracy moved
to second and then stepped up to the lead. Behind Tracy, second place was up
for grabs, with several drivers taking turns in the position. Jon Lewerer went
to the runner up spot and stayed there, as the pack was now spreading out.
Tracy ran farther out front, but this wasn’t the case for Lewerer as he was
now being challenged by Andy Hansen. Shortly thereafter, an incident saw
Hansen and Cory Lease spinning on the front stretch and Lease showed
incredible driving skill as he regained control on the bottom of the track.
Hansen slid into the infield and no cars were damaged. Lewerer picked up the
lead for the restart. Tracy was now off the track with a broken axle and went
from having a great race, to getting a DNF. When the green flag was in the air
again, Rickert moved into the lead. Rickert began to move farther out front
and remained unstopped to take home the win.
A cautionless race played right into Oren "The Wild Child"
Hoeper’s game plan as he won the Modified Feature. >From the start,
Harlan Lysne went out to the lead, but Hoeper caught up with him before long
and took over the race. Hoeper’s lead developed quickly and before lap 10,
he had a full straightaway advantage. Hoeper didn’t stop there, as he
continued to go farther and farther ahead. Dave Ostendorf spun a little bit
past the race’s halfway point, but no caution was necessary, giving Hoeper
the win, by a long shot.
Craig "Sparky" Maack dominated the UCAR Feature from start to
finish, getting the lead on lap one and keeping it until the end. Two cautions
slowed the action about 1/3 of the way through and when things got going
again, Maack continued his domination on his way to scoring the win.
Shawn Robinson built up a big lead and that was the key to him winning the
Thunder Car Feature. Harry Johnson went to the early Thunder Car lead in his
red & black #33 car. Johnson kept the lead for the opening laps, until
Robinson came to challenge and moved to the top spot. Once in front, Robinson
built on his lead and showed that he was indeed unstoppable, winning by about
a ¾ straightaway over Johnson.
