Reuvers Makes It Back To Victory Lane
Steve Schultz, Ted Reuvers And Jeff Partington Join The
Celebration
(Elko, MN – 9/3/05) Donny Reuvers was in the right place at the right
time on Saturday night at Elko Speedway. The NASCAR Division Four point
leader was able to take advantage of the misfortune of Steve Murgic in
claiming the win in the Craftsman Tools 50 for the Budweiser Super Late
Models. Steve Schultz was able to withstand a late yellow to claim the
win in the GhostRiders Sportsmen Craftsman Tools 30, while Ted Reuvers motored
to victory lane in the Coca-Cola Thunder Cars Craftsman Tools 25 and Jeff
Partington made yet another top of podium appearance in winning the ACDelco
Power Stocks Craftsman Tools 20.
Murgic grabbed the lead from Adam Royle on the fifth lap and was able to open
up a comfortable lead even after a 13th lap caution. With side-by-side
racing going on throughout the field, Reuvers was able to climb from his 12th
starting spot into second by lap 34 and set his sights on Murgic. Murgic
looked like he was on his way to a comfortable win when he was forced to slow
for a caution on the 48th circuit. However, a lapped car behind Murgic
was not as quick on the brakes and plowed into the rear-end of Murgic, ending
the veterans run to the finish. Reuvers was able to hold off Jacob Goede
and Jake Ryan in posting the win. “I think I might have had enough to
catch Steve before the race ended, but I doubt I had enough to get around
him. I hate to see his great run end that way,” said Reuvers from
victory lane. Reuvers, Goede and Ryan, the top three in the point
standings at Elko were followed across the line by Steve Anderson and Darrin
Giles.
Schultz had his work cut out in trying to make the pass against Paul Neisius
before he could claim the GhostRiders Sportsmen win. The two battled for
six laps until Schultz made the pass stick on the 23rd lap. Schultz was
once again challenged by Neisius on the restart of the races only yellow on
lap 28, but held on for the win. Neisius finished second followed by
Doug Brown, Greg Bieber and Josh Larsen.
Ted Reuvers took the lead from the start of the Thunder Cars 25. He
battled with Kris Morelan on the restart of the races only yellow on lap 16
but gained the lead back for good on the 18th circuit. Morelan held on
for second while Matt Carlander made some late passes to claim third followed
by Dustin Mann and James Weeks.
Partington didn’t leave much to question as he took over the lead on the
fifth lap of the Power Stocks 20 and never looked back. Matt Ryan showed
strength from his 8th starting spot in picking up positions nearly every lap
in finishing second. Scott King continued his late season burst with a
strong third place finish in front of Adam Simon and Bud Kane.
