Jorgenson Motors To MN Late Model Challenge Series Win

(Elko, MN – 8/26/05)  Conrad Jorgenson worked his way to the front of the field and withstood several early cautions to claim the win in the MW Johnson Construction 50, the fifth of six Minnesota Late Model Challenge Series races.  The final race will be contested on Saturday night, August 27th at I-94 Raceway in Sauk Centre, MN.

Brian Roach took the point from the pole and avoided a second lap 6 car melee.  Jake Jay got past Roach on the restart to claim the lead he would give back to Roach when the races second caution flew on lap 5.  Jorgenson was able to get past Jay a lap later and took the lead for good getting around Roach just a lap later.  Adam Royle charged to the front from his 7th starting spot and lined up behind Jorgenson on the restart of the races third and final caution on lap 14.  But Jorgenson was up for the task as Royle had to settle for second.  “I’ve got to thank the Herman’s for getting me a new motor.  That was the real difference tonight,” said Jorgenson referring to his car owners from Herman’s Landscape.  “We’re really set up now to head into the final part of the season with a strong car.”  Steve Murgic also showed a strong car as he battled most of the final 20 laps side by side with a hard charging Jake Ryan.  The two swapped third a fourth several times before Murgic was able to nail down third.  Ryan finished fourth with NASCAR Division 4 point leader Donny Reuvers settling for fifth.  Reuvers headed for the pit on the warm-up laps and was able to return to the track just as the leaders were taking the green flag.

The Hornet 20 lap features were won by Tim Ryan and Steve Swedin.  Ryan showed patience in working his way to the front and the eventual win.  The races only caution came on lap 11 with Ryan taking the point two laps later.  He was followed across the line by Nathan McHale and Jason Pulczinski.  Swedin grabbed the lead mid-way through the caution free second Hornet feature.  Ron Churchill and Andy Strean followed Swedin across the stripe.

Molly Ryan claimed the win in the Queen Bee 8 lap feature with a dominant performance over the rest of the 12 car field.

Racing continues at Elko Speedway Saturday night as Dick’s Sanitation presents the Eve of Destruction.  Included on the card are the continuing Battle of the Monster Trucks, High Flying Motorcycle Ramp Jumps, Trailer Racing, School Bus Racing, Hornets, Cruisers and Figure Eights.  Gates open at 5:30 with all the destruction set for 7pm.
