Ryan Holds On For Win, Schultz "ThreePeats" At Elko

(Elko, MN)  Jake Ryan held off a determined Donny Reuvers on his way to the 50 lap Budweiser Super Late Model win Saturday Night at Elko Speedway.  Ryan was able to drive to victory lane in front of the Heritage Night crowd including NASCAR Legends Bobby Allison and Ned Jarrett.  Ryan and Jon Lemke battled from the front row in the early going with Ryan finally gaining the point.  Steve Murgic broke down the front straight sending his ride hard into the turn one wall, gathering up the Brian Johnson car.  Ryan again gained the point off the restart and pulled away from the field while Lemke and Conrad Jorgenson exchanged paint battling for second.  Lemke’s ride broke loose and spun on lap 40 causing a trip to the back of the field.  It appeared that Reuvers pulled off the win, but a caution just before the checkered flew caused a green-white-checkered finish with Ryan holding on for his first win of the season.  Reuvers settled for second with Jorgenson in tow followed by Benny Van Cleve and Jamie Farrell.

Steve Schultz made it look east in winning his third feature in three races for the GhostRiders Sportsmen.  Schultz built up an early lead and easily withstood the races only restart after a caution flew on the 22nd circuit.  Greg Bieber made his way to second and held off a determined Doug Brown for the second spot.  Brown crossed the line third with Dan Whitehead and Justin Neisius in tow.

Jerry Thomsen showed fortitude in taking the win in the Coca-Cola Thunder Car 25.  After two early cautions, Thomsen grabbed the lead on lap 13 from Chris Cooley.  Cooley stayed with Thomsen the rest of the way but settled for second followed by Matt Carlander, Joe Garofalo and Ted Reuvers.

It looked like Heath Herman had the field covered in the ACDelco Power Stocks 20.  Car problems with just one circuit left sent his mount to the infield as he watched Brock Weber cross the line for the win.  Weber was followed by Chad Tuma, Matt Ryan, Jeff Partington and Tim Hollen.

It will be double time for Elko Speedway this weekend.  Friday night will be the first of four Eves of Destruction including Dueling Monster Trucks and School Bus Races while Saturday night will feature the dodge Weekly Racing Series.  For more information, contact the speedway at 952-461RACE (7223) or go to the speedway website at www.elkospeedway.com
