Cregger Posts Win In First Visit To Elko Speedway
(Elko, MN) – Veteran Midwest Enduro Series Driver Rick Cregger’s first
visit to Elko Speedway was fruitful to say the least. The Madison,
Wisconsin driver picked up the $1,500 top prize in winning the Enduromania
240. Cregger inherited the lead with a dozen laps left after the top two
cars headed for the pits. “This place is great,” said Cregger as he
got out of his mount in Victory Lane. “The race surface is as good as
I’ve been on and you add in the new grandstands and it’s just a great
place to race.” Cregger was followed across the line by Clintonville,
Wisconsin’s Mike Kasparek, Jerry Schoepke, Corcoran, MN; Jim Schoepke, Maple
Grove, MN and Les Wiedenhoeft of Jackson, WI.
Lakeville’s Kyle McNearney was able to keep his Hornet on track to claim the
win in the Hornet Enduro 100. He finished in front of Robert Schnichels
and Nathan McHale, both from Elko and Dan Heyda and Adam Hertaus, both from
New Prague.
A hearty crowd braved the less than favorable weather to watch the race from
the tracks new grandstand. The stands will be officially christened this
Saturday night as the start of the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series kicks off.
