Trickle Joins ACDelco Field At Elko Speedway
by Chris Clark
(Elko, MN) – Racing legend Dick Trickle will once again grace the high banks
of the 3/8 mile Elko Speedway, competing in the first leg of the three event
ACDelco Super Summer Series, Saturday night, June 26. The night is being
presented by Country Joe Homes and Trickle has given notice he’s planning on
winning!
“I’m teaming up with Country Joe Racing’s Kevin Cywinski which should
make for an unbeatable team. We’re coming to Elko to win,” said
Trickle. Trickle’s commitment to winning was further enforced by his
decision to take part in a practice session at the track on Thursday night,
June 24. Cywinski will act as car and crew chief for the Country Joe
Racing entry. Cywinski says he’s looking forward to working with the
driver who has posted the most wins of any in the nation. “I’ve
raced against Dick many times before and feel like I know what we have to do
to get the car to compliment his driving style. He told me that he’s
not coming all the way from North Carolina to make an appearance, but that he
expects to be in victory lane. He’s pumped about it and so am I.
I’ll have a car entered in the race and I’m sure Dick will be going over
it pretty close to make sure it’s not set up any better than his.”
To make it to victory lane won’t be an easy task with the expected level of
competition. The race will feature the Elko Speedway Budweiser Super
Late Models along with the Midwest All-Star Racing Series (MARS).
Trickle will have to contend with hot shoes the likes of Jon Lemke, Brian
Johnson, Jason Schneider and Jake Ryan, all with extensive Elko Speedway
history and two-time MARS defending champion Jeff Van Oudenhoven (Kimberly,
WI), Brad “J.J.” Mueller (Random Lake, WI), and Jeremy Miller (Rockton,
IL).
One of the biggest obstacles Trickle will have to contend with to make it to
victory lane will be current ARCA Rookie of the Year candidate Joey Miller who
will be teamed with Trickle through the Country Joe stable. Miller is a
veteran of Elko Speedway and has been successful in putting his mount in
victory lane several times.
The June 26th date is the first of the three ACDelco Super Summer Series
events Presented by Country Joe Homes and will feature a benefit for Tuberous
Sclerosis. Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a little known and so far
incurable disease that affects approximately 50,000 individuals in the United
States. Country Joe Homes will be hosting a day long event to help raise funds
for the cause, leading up to the night at the speedway.
“We’re excited to have Country Joe Homes as a presenting sponsor to the
kick off our Super Summer Series,” said Randy Chancellor, Market Area
Manager for ACDelco’s Central Region. “It will be great to see Trickle run
at Elko again. And most importantly, we’re happy to be a part of such
a worthy cause as TSC. We’ve worked with the people at Country Joe Homes in
the past and will support them in whatever way we can.”
The second leg of the ACDelco Super Summer Series will be held on Saturday
night August 8th with the Series Championship night set for Labor Day Sunday
night, September 4th.
Elko Speedway is located 30 minutes south of downtown Minneapolis, a mile west
