Elko Speedway Announces “User Friendly” 2005 Schedule

(Elko, MN)  Elko Speedway officials have released a tentative 2005 season schedule designed to allow competitors, crews and fans alike some “family downtime”.  The schedule includes two weekends where the four major speedway divisions will not compete.

The schedule also accommodates special activities and nights to celebrate the 40th year the track has been in operation.  Highlighting the celebration will be a special visit to the track by NASCAR Legends Bobby Allison and Ned Jarrett on May 21.  The track will also take time to salute all of the former greats who have competed at the track over the first 40 years.

Plans are being formulated to host another NEXTEL Cup Drivers Night.  The speedway hosted stars Bill Elliott, Sterling Marlin, Greg Biffle, Kenny Wallace and Travis Kvapil in 2004.

The ACDelco Super Summer Series will return in 2005.  The three night series featuring twin 40 lap features for the Super Late Models was very successful in its inaugural year and officials are looking to grow the series into a premier event in Midwest racing circles.

A four race Challenge Series has been added to the schedule featuring the Elko Sportsmen and the Mid American Stock Car Series.  Separate points will be awarded within the four races with the over-all champion receiving a trip for two to the 2006 Daytona 500.

Speedway officials have also included the four popular Eve of Destruction nights.  However, unlike the past, two of the four “Eve’s” are set for Saturday nights.

The season kicks off on Saturday, April 23rd with the all new Enduromania 240.  The enduro will feature two divisions including full size enduro cars and a separate Hornet enduro.  The schedule calls for the season to conclude with the 2nd Annual Thunder Car Nationals on Saturday, October 1st.
