Reuvers The “Best Of The Quest” At Elko Speedway
(Elko, MN) – Donny Reuvers is all about commitment. When he’s not
racing at Elko Speedway, he’s committed to the crew of the ASA team of Joey
Miller. But when he gets a break from that, the commitment turns to
winning races at Elko. Reuvers took 12 laps to wrestle his way around
Lakeville’s Steve Anderson and then held off two late race yellows to claim
the win in the Budweiser Super Late Model Carquest 40 in front of a large
crowd of Elko race fans. The late yellows made for a race within a race
between points leader John Lemke and runner-up Jake Ryan. Lemke was able
to stick to the rear of Ryan for most of the race. However, the last
five laps saw Lemke move back while Ryan was making a bid for the win.
When all was said and done, Lemke’s 8th place finish was just enough for the
veteran to claim a two point win over Ryan for the Carquest Mid-Season
Championship. Ryan was able to bring his ride home second in from of
Jeff Martin, Brian Johnson and Chad Walen.
The Mid American Stock Car Series challenged the Elko Sportsmen in the
Carquest 50. MAS hot shoe Jeremy Miller also had to deal with two late
cautions before claiming the win. “After two long trips up here just
to watch it rain, three times a charm”, said an elated Miller in victory
lane. “I’d like to be able to run this track weekly. It’s
everything a competitor could want”. The Elko Sportsmen showed what
home field advantage is all about by grabbing three of the next four
sports. Elko regulars Greg Bieber and Doug Brown rode to strong second
and third place finishes in front of Mid-American point leader Peter “Speedy”
Hernandez. Mike Skaja was able to hold on for the fifth spot.
Browns strong showing was enough for the fast qualifier to gain the points
lead and claim the Carquest Mid-Season Championship.
Matt Carlander rode a win in the Coca-Cola Thunder Car Carquest 25 to the
Carquest Mid-Season Championship. It took Carlander just seven circuits
to gain the lead from pole starter Justin Neisius. A caution on lap ten
tightened the field but Carlander was able to pull away from the field to
coast to the win. Kevin Lutz was successful in a 13th lap pass on
Neisius and held on for second. Neisius was third while Brent Kane held
off a determined Mike Crilly for the fourth spot.
It wasn’t a good race night for Bud Kane, but the ACDelco Power Stock hot
shoe had just enough to hold on to the Carquest Mid-Season Championship.
Kane encountered early problems that saw him fall well back in the
field. Jeff Partington showed strength by pulling away for the win in
the Carquest 20. Partington was followed across the line by Dustin Mann,
Chase Weber, Chad Tuma and Robert Clingingsmith in a race that saw only one
caution when Jay Seiler lost a tire in turn two.
Racing continues Saturday Night, July 24 as Leman’s Garage presents an
exciting night of NASCAR Racing. The night will be highlighted with
racing by the Budweiser Super Late Models, the Elko Sportsmen, the Coca-Cola
Thunder Cars and the ACDelco Power Stocks. The night will also be
highlighted with an appearance of the Elko Winged Figure Eights and a special
Leman’s Garage Ugly Truck Contest. Elko Speedway is located just one
mile west of Highway 35 on County Road 2 (Exit 76). For tickets or
