Fresh Off Winston Cup Win, Stewart Set To Conquer Elko's Best

ELKO, MN-Defending Winston Cup Champion Tony Stewart will be appearing and competing at Elko Speedway this Wednesday night, fresh off his win in the Pocono 500 NASCAR event this past weekend. Stewart will be signing autographs as well as competing in a Match Race against the top NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series competitors from Elko.
Wednesday night will mark the first ever visit by Stewart, a former USAC open wheel Champion and IRL Champion. He will strap in behind the wheel of a NASCAR Budweiser Late Model for a twelve-lap Match Race against
Minnesota's finest NASCAR drivers.
Current point leaders Jacob Goede and Jeff Martin are two of the drivers that the fans selected for the Match Race. Goede, a young gun at the speedway has come on strong this season, impressing many of his competitors. Seven-time track Champion Martin has already secured a feature victory in this young season. The other drivers selected to compete against Stewart are Steve Murgic, Dean Cornelius, defending Budweiser Late Model Champion Brian Johnson and former ASA competitor Dan Fredrickson.
Pit Gates will open for the competitors at 2, spectator gates open at 4, the VIP Champions Ceremony begins at 5, autographs start at 5:45, Waste Management qualifying will take place at 6 with the first race at 7:30. General Admission seating is still available for this event. Adult tickets are $20, ages 5-12 are $10 with children 4 and under admitted free.
