Deer Creek Speedway Readies For World Dirt Racing League
By Bill Nelson

August 2, 2005- The crew at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley Minnesoa are busy preparing for one of the best shows of the season when the stars of the Polydome World Dirt Racing League Late Model Series invades the speedway on August 9th.  The 2005 edition of the “Midwest Wireless 50” event will be a show to see.  WDRL point leader and defending champion of the event Denny Eckrich will be on hand to test the Southern Minnesota Speedplant along with former WDRL champion Kyle Berck, rookie sensation Justin Fegers of Mound MN and many others.  Some of the other expected traveling stars will be John Anderson, Dave Eckrich along with Eric Pember, Keith Foss and many others.  They will be competing against some of the best local stars with the likes of Lance Matthees, Mark Teske, Brad Waits and many other local drivers.  Also expected to be on hand are some of the best area WISSOTA Late Model drivers.  Last year a great field of cars entered the speedway with hopes of garnering the $5,000 first place check.

All seating is general admission with all kids 12 and under admitted to the speedway for free.  Adults are $18.00 at the door.

Also on hand for the racing action that night will be the USRA Modifieds.  A great turnout of modifieds is expected at the event that will pay $1000 to the winner of the event.  No-license required to race a USRA Sanctioned event.

Those who have not been at the speedway since last years inaugural event presented by Midwest Wireless will notice a huge amount of changes to the facility.  Out front the first thing you may notice is the large lighted highway sign announcing your arrival at the speedway.  Entering the parking lot you will then notice that there are now two VIP buildings.  Getting your tickets is less congested with new ticket windows and gate entrances.  Upon entering the speedway you will be inside the new Pepsi Plaza a new hospitality area.  Walking into the speedway to find your seat you will see that a new section of state of the art seating has been added in front of the new VIP building that allows for some incredible sight lines.  While enjoying the nights racing activities feel free to visit with Magnum the new Deer Creek Mascot or visit one of the two concession areas.  A new concession trailer has been added under the new VIP building and holds all of the racetrack favorites along with some new treats.  Walking Tacos have been added to the menu this year along with French Fries and new last weekend Blue Bunny Ice Cream treats.  You will find a selection of food that is second to none as you enjoy the nights racing activities.
