Central States Region Super Cup News
The snow finally melts, the sun finally starts shining, and the race season
finally begins! The Central States Region Super Cups open their 2007 season
with an inaugural race at the Milwaukee Mile on April 28th. However, the car
owners and drivers have been hard at work all winter, not just tuning up their
cars, but obtaining exposure throughout the Chicagoland area.
Eight cars attended the 2007 World of Wheels at the McCormick Place in
Chicago. Thousands of spectators placed their gaze on the Super Cups and
received schedule/sponsor flyers. Hundreds of children jumped into the
drivers’ seats to have their pictures taken. The #17 car of David Cerer
received the ‘Best in Class’ award.
Several cars also appeared at car expos in Schaumburg, IL and Milwaukee where
thousands more were exposed to the unique cars. Speaking of Milwaukee, several
more cars will be on display at the Milwaukee Mile during the Indy Racing
League (IRL) event in June.
CSR is excited to announce a new partnership with Chicago Indoor Racing, an
indoor karting center with expo and banquet facilities, a game room, and a
bar/restaurant. Chicago Indoor Racing, located in Buffalo Grove, IL, is
considered one of the most enjoyable activity centers in the Midwest for both
adults and children. CSR will hold their annual banquet at the facility and
will also host several sponsor events there.
On the track, this season should be more exciting than any other. In 2006, CSR
races averaged 20 to 25 adult cars at each race event with several races near
40 cars! Because of all the exposure and awesome racing in 2006, several more
spectators have gotten off the bleachers and into the drivers seat for 2007.
Even some of the parents of the Junior Division drivers decided to trade in
their crew chief uniforms for drivers’ suits. The 2006 Adult Division season
championship was decided by one point and 2007 should be just as close!
The Junior Division of CSR has grown incredibly fast over the past year.
Drivers as young as 9 years old put on some incredible shows in 2006. In 2007,
the Junior Division car counts will be close to the adult car counts. Many of
the new drivers have go-kart experience which means some fast races and close
finishes!
This year, the famous Lake Geneva Raceway closed after 44 years in racing.
Considered a home track for many of the CSR drivers, it will surely be missed
and remembered for its exciting race action, including a 3 wide photo finish
for the Super Cups last May. Fortunately other tracks in the area have
recruited the Super Cups to fill their Saturday Night schedules. New tracks
for 2007 include Dells Raceway Park, Madison International Speedway, and the
Milwaukee Mile while CSR returns to Rockford Speedway for several race nights.
CSR will act as a support series in 2007 for two of the Midwest’s most
intense Late Model racing series: American Speed Association (ASA) North
series and the Wisconsin Challenge Series (WCS). Both series have bred current
and former NASCAR stars. Hopefully the crowd will have some cheering left in
them after they’re done screaming for the CSR Super Cups!

Several 2006 race videos are posted on the website and 2007 races will be
added all season long. But the action is always best live, so get out and
support your local race tracks and your favorite drivers!
