CRANDON, WI -- Off-road racing is a special sport for fans and drivers alike and no place is it more special than Crandon International Off-Road Raceway -- the world's premier off-road race course.  At the 2003 BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races this coming Labor Day weekend, eight lucky off-road fans and one driver and team epitomize the closeness of off-road racing between spectator and racer.

As a special promotion for the BorgWarner Shootout and NISMO Time Trials, professional driver Paul Seidler, Milwaukee, WI, and his No Limits Race Team will bring his 800 HP Chevrolet high performance race pickup to Crandon Raceway to be decorated by fans.   Seidler's Chevy has been specially paneled with pure white front and rear fenders, door panels, hood and roof.   Fans will decorate the race truck on Friday morning, August 29 beginning at 8:30 a.m. outside the Lunch Express Restaurant on Crandon's main street.

Seidler will race his truck with the fan-decorated panels in the NISMO Time Trials Friday afternoon and also in Sunday's BorgWarner Shootout.  The street is closed annually each Friday before the off-road World Championships.  Hundreds of drivers and their exotic race pickups and buggies line the street.  Snap-On Tools sponsors pit crew competitions such as tire-changing contests and others.   A special driver's meeting is conducted for the BorgWarner Shootout -- off-road racing's most prestigious race for the $100,000 BorgWarner Cup.  At noon, the annual World Championship Labor Day Parade is run through Main Street featuring floats, bands and more.

"It's an incredible sight," said Seidler about the Friday pre-race activities in downtown Crandon.  "There are hundreds of racers and their teams and a couple of thousand race fans milling about, talking to driver's, taking pictures of their trucks," he said.  "Crandon is just a special place and we wanted to do something to thank the fans for their support over the many years we have raced at the track."

To win an opportunity to decorate Seidler's #98 race truck, fans can register in advance at the Lunch Express on Lake Avenue in downtown Crandon through Thursday, August 28 at 6 p.m.  Eight lucky fans will have their names selected to decorate one of the eight panels on the race truck Friday morning between 8:30-10:30 a.m.  Winners will be notified by the Lunch Express.  Seidler will present special team race shirts to each participant and will also select the "best panel".  Winner of the best panel receives two complimentary tickets to the BorgWarner World Championships and a free pizza and refreshments from the Lunch Express.   All eight winners and their families will also be invited to a pizza party, courtesy of the Lunch Express, in Seidler's No Limits Racing team pit at the Crandon track on Saturday, August 30 after the Pro 2 pickup truck race at 3:30 p.m. .  "Hey, we just want everyone to know we deliver," cracked Mark Fraley, owner of the Lunch Express, which features delicious fresh-made pizzas, among other fare.  He will deliver eight pizza's to the Seidler pit for the Saturday pit reception.

Seidler, 32, has been racing for several years at Crandon Raceway.  He has entered seven of the nine BorgWarner Shootout Heavy Metal Challenge races.  He began racing in the high performance 4x4 pickup truck class and switched to the 2-wheel drive
Pro 2 pickup truck division last year.  He had a third place finish in Lucas Oil CORR racing at Crandon last year.  In the addition to the eight lucky Crandon Raceway fans, Seidler's sponsors include Goodyear Tire, SoBe, No Fear, Animal Paintball, ATD Transmissions and Shark Signs & Designs.  His wife, Elana, also raced professionally at Crandon in the 1990s, competing in a 4x4 truck in the former Women's Heavy Metal class.   Paul and Elana have one daughter, Isis, and a son, Raiden.  Coordinating the promotion for No Limits Racing is John Seidler and his wife, Diane, parents of the racer.  "We are looking forward to meeting all the fans at Crandon, whether they are part of our artist team or not," said John.

The 34th annual BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races begin Friday morning, August 29 with the downtown Crandon activities.  Following the parade, Seidler and other top drivers return to the track for the NISMO Time Trials for entry into the 9th annual BorgWarner Shootout.  The Time Trials begin at the track at 1:30 p.m.  The 20 fastest trucks earn entry into the race for the $100,000 BorgWarner off-road cup to be held Sunday, August 31 at 4 p.m.  Seidler finished ninth in last year's BorgWarner Shootout.  He is expected to again be in the top 10 for the Shootout and is seeking his first win.

Following the NISMO Time Trials, fans can gear up for the Friday Night Xtreme Thunderfest beginning at 7 p.m. at the track.
Sponsored by Forest County Potawatomi, this years' Thunderfest features the unusual and bizarre from the world of motorsports including the "Transtormer" UFO robot truck and six of the country's top performing monster trucks, including Lil' Miss Dangerous and Avenger -- a freestyle finalist.

Off-road race fans will enjoy the finest in World Championship off-road racing action on Saturday and Sunday as Pro and Sportsman drivers compete in several classes.  The weekend wraps up racing in the Sportsman classes on the Lucas Oil Championship Off-Road Racing Tour 2003.  Drivers will compete for Crandon World Championship titles and rings all day Saturday.  Racing is day-long Sunday in several classes leading up to the BorgWarner Shootout.
