CRANDON, WI -- Hundreds of motorcyclists, concert fans and bike aficionados are slated to descend on Crandon this coming weekend for the first annual Thunder Valley Biker Rally to be held at Crandon Raceway July 10-13.  There will be plenty to see and do during the event, which kicks off with a street party in downtown Crandon Thursday evening beginning at 8 p.m. and culminates Saturday night with concert performances by David Allan Coe, Vic Ferrari and other bands.   The event is underwritten by the Forest County Potawatomi as well as Indian Springs Lodge, Northern Lights Casino, Miller Lite, Johnsonville, U.S. Tobacco, Amsoil, among others.

Bikes of all varieties will be on display at the Rally  -- from vintage to late model to race and other specialty machines.  Doc's Harley-Davidson of Shawano, WI,  will be displaying various championship nitro drag bikes.  A full complement of Indian bikes from Oshkosh, WI, will be exhibited, including the popular Big Dog bikes.  Irv's of Tomahawk, WI, will show off the latest Victory model bikes.   And, Boss Hoss Custom Bikes will have a 40 x 80-foot display of their $50,000 Boss Hoss performance bikes featuring 350 hp Chevrolet engines.

Bikers may want to test their own bikes and a self-contained dynomometer laboratory from Mid-Cities Motorsports will on the track grounds all weekend.  Crandon Raceway has also specially constructed a "burn-out pit" for Rally attendees.  Through the smoke and rubber of the burn-out pit, rally attendees will also be able to whoop it up over the traditional "flaming bike drop".  The three story bike drop will take place inside the race track on the main straightaway in full view of attendees.

Biker rallies offer the opportunity to test "ridemanship" and the Thunder Valley Biker Rally is no exception.  Various skill games will be conducted throughout the weekend including Hula Hoop toss, water balloon toss, tennis ball drop, rodeo barrel roll and a special "brat bite"  contest featuring Johnsonville sausage.

A "Ms. Thunder Valley Biker Rally" contest is also scheduled.   "Ms. Thunder Valley 2003" will be anointed Friday evening during a concert performance by Pork & The Havana Ducks and Johnny Wad.  Performances by Pork & the Havana Ducks featuring lead singer "Pork" whose gargantuan size lets him belt out the tunes.  The band is a favorite among bikers.  First prize is $300.  Runner-up will receive $100.  Dress for the contest will be an open category and contestants may enter with biker attire, bathing suits, bikini's, and T-shirts -- wet or dry.

During the entire weekend, bands will be performing on one of two stages at the track.   Headliners include David Allan Coe, Vic Ferrari Band, Pork & The Havana Ducks, Road Head, Johnny Wad and more.   Fans of David Allan Coe, whose trademark country rock style has been a favorite of bikers for years in the U.S., takes the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday night.  He will be followed by the Vic Ferrari Band -- one of the most popular rock groups in the State of Wisconsin.   Lead singer of the Vic Ferrari band will deal the winning hand worth $1,000 to one fortunate participant of the Thunder Valley Poker Run sponsored by Northern Lights Casino.  Information on the Poker Run is available at various taverns and establishments in and around the greater Crandon area.  Winner of the $1,000 will be greeted with an enormous fireworks show courtesy of Associated Bank.

All attendees with a paid admission to the Biker Rally receive a complimentary $5 match play from Northern Lights Casino in Carter, WI.  Rally participants need only show their special entry wristband at the Northern Lights Casino Players' Club booth to receive the match play -- which is redeemable only during the event weekend.

Adult admission for the weekend is $30 and includes campsite.  Crandon features acres of campgrounds with facilities, including hot showers and a on-grounds "convenience store" with camping needs, including ice, food and refreshments.  Daily admission is $20.  The Thunder Valley Biker Rally is located on U.S. Highway 8 in Crandon, WI.   Crandon is approximately 90 minutes northwest of Green Bay, 80 minutes northeast of Wausau,
