Big Sprint Car Lineup Announced At Cedar Lake Speedway
By Ron Bernhagen
March 22, 2006, New Richmond, WI - Open wheel fans will be able to quench
their sprint car thirsts at Cedar Lake Speedway in 2006 when seven sprint car
shows will be presented. The full blown Outlaw 410 sprint cars will race
four times and the 360 sprint cars will race on three different
occasions. "There are a lot of sprint car fans in our area and they
have let us know they want more sprint car racing at CLS," stated Bob
Kaufman. "We found a way to make that happen in 2006."
The first sprint car event scheduled is the 5th Annual Billy Anderson Memorial
on April 15th (rain date April 22nd). Last year 35 360 sprint cars
entered the pits to do battle on the high-banked, 3/8-mile oval with Chuck
Swenson coming home the winner. On May 13th, the 360 sprint cars will
make an encore appearance.
In a bold move last year, the sprint cars were added to the Masters, a
traditionally big stock car weekend. The decision turned out to be the
right one. Once again, the IRA Outlaw 410 sprint cars will be included
in the Masters weekend June 16-17. They will run complete shows each
night. Last year the car count was high, the racing was intense, and the
action was literally high flying with a number of spectacular flips.
On Monday, July 10th, the annual Outlaw sprint car show will be
presented. This year the newly formed National Sprint Car Tour will
sanction the event and race fans will see many of the cars and stars they are
accustomed to seeing. Steve Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Jason Meyers, Paul McMahan,
Tim Kaeding, Shane Stewart, Brian Paulus, Jason Solwold, and Jason Sides are
just some of the big names that will be competing that night. CLS is
talking to many other national and regional sprint car drivers and will
announce a full list of drivers at a later date. For the first time
ever, you will be able to purchase reserved seats for this event as
well. They will go on sale on Friday, April 7th, 2006.
The sixth sprint car show will be the third and final appearance of the 360
sprint cars on July 22nd.
The final sprint car show of the year will be the 5th Annual IRA/NOSA/Knoxville
410 Challenge on Saturday, September 9th. The night will also serve as
the 6th Annual Jerry Richert Memorial. This race has become a must-see
for any sprint car fan. Nowhere else but at CLS can fans see the best
cars and stars from the IRA and NOSA sanctioning bodies and the Knoxville
Raceway. A field of close to 50 cars is expected.
