Stratton Returns To Victory Lane

Sun Prairie, Wis., July 30-Fast qualifier Danny Stratton captured the 25-lap
Badger Midget Series feature Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The victory
was his first since capturing the season opener in April.
Harley Slotten jumped into the lead from his outside front row starting
position. Slotten quickly opened up a large advantage over Buddy Luedke and a
tightly bunched field. On the tenth lap Slotten enjoyed a three-plus second
lead over Luedke. One lap later Doug Schenck took over second place while
Stratton had advanced to fifth position.
Slotten began lapping cars on the 14th lap while Schenck, series points leader
Brad Kuhn, Stratton and Scott Hatton waged a torrid battle for second. Slotten
held a 3.6 second lead when he suffered a flat tire on the 19th lap, bringing
out the caution flag.
On the restart Stratton drove under Schenck for the lead. On the white flag
lap with Stratton holding a comfortable lead the red flag appeared for a
multi-car accident, bringing action to a halt. On the restart Stratton driving
the Hans Lein Spike-Esslinger executed a perfect restart and finished 1.06
seconds ahead of Hatton, Brandon Waelti, Kuhn and Jimi Quin.
Kuhn holds a 127-point advantage over Hatton heading into the Aug. 5 event at
Wilmot (Wis.) Speedway, before returning to Angell Park Speedway on Aug.
