Kuhn Increases Point Lead With Victory

Sun Prairie, Wis., July 2 - Series points leader Brad Kuhn scored his fifth Badger Midget Series feature victory of the season capturing the 25-lap feature Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway.

Defending Series champion Scott Hatton jumped into the lead at the start, while Kuhn passed five cars in the first two laps moving into fifth position. The caution was displayed on lap two for a stalled car. Hatton again pulled away from the field on the restart increasing his lead each lap.

On lap 12 Hatton enjoyed a three second-plus lead over Danny Stratton and Kuhn as he began to lap slower cars. Kuhn moved into second on the 14th lap. The caution was displayed for a stalled car on lap 16 erasing Hatton's lead. On the restart Hatton had five cars between himself and Kuhn. Kuhn cleared the lapped cars by lap 17,when another caution appeared one lap later.

On this restart Hatton had one lapped car between himself and Kuhn. Kuhn chased down Hatton and the pair ran wheel to wheel for the lead. Entering turn one on lap 22 using the high line Kuhn made the pass stick and pulled ahead of Hatton. The final laps Kuhn driving the Kuhn Motorsports Stealth/Mopar stretched his advantage and finished 2.17 seconds ahead of Hatton at the finish. Stratton finished a solid third ahead of Brandon Waelti and Chad DeSelle. Kuhn holds a 142-point advantage over Waelti heading into the July 9 event at the Angell Park Speedway.
