Fiscus Ends Victory Drought At Powercom Park
By Bryan Gapinski
Beaver Dam, Wis., June 3 - Aaron Fiscus ended his victory drought by capturing
the 25-lap co-sanctioned Badger/POWRi Midget Series Feature Saturday at The
Raceway at Powercom Park. The win was his first series feature victory since
July 20, 2003.
Doug Schenck jumped into the lead at the start of the feature, while fast
qualifier Danny Stratton passed four cars on the opening lap moving up to
fourth place. Stratton made a great three wide pass and moved into second
place on the fourth lap. Two laps later Stratton edged Schenck at the line to
assume the lead.
Stratton began stretching his lead running the high groove and held a four
car-length lead over Fiscus at the midway point with Scott Hatton in third.
Stratton began lapping the tail of the field on the 17th lap and two laps
later the caution appeared when Dean Erfurth spun on the track .
On the restart with Stratton running the high groove and Fiscus stuck to the
bottom of the track a great battle took place for the lead with Hatton
trailing the pair by a car length on the cushion. The pair were event at the
line on lap 21, but the next lap with the top groove moving higher Fiscus
forged ahead into the lead.
With his left front tire glued to the infield berm the final two laps Fiscus
increased his advantage to 1.12 second victory over Stratton at the finish.
Fiscus drove the Jim Fiscus owned Spike/Esslinger #7. Defending Series
Champion Hatton placed third ahead of rookie Joe Wipperfurth who the entire
