Kuhn Slices Through Field For Prairie Victory

Sun Prairie,Wis., May 21 - Brad Kuhn drove a spectacular race winning the
50-lap Badger Midget Series Feature, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. The
win was his second straight in Badger competition and increased his series
points lead.
Polesitter Davey Ray jumped into the lead at the start. Kuhn's car came to a
stop on the second lap to avoid a slowing car, forcing him to restart in 18th
position. By lap five Kuhn passed eight cars advancing to tenth position,
while Ray held off the challenges of Danny Stratton for the lead. Stratton
passed Ray for the lead on the ninth lap, while Kuhn moved into the top five
on the same lap.
Third place Chad DeSelle stalled on the 12th lap bringing out the yellow
bunching up the field, with Kuhn in fourth position behind Stratton, Ray and
Aaron Fiscus on the restart. Kuhn passed Fiscus on the restart and passed Ray
one lap later moving into second position. Kuhn closed to within two-car
lengths of Stratton by lap 20.
Stratton led Kuhn across the line on lap 23, but was passed by Kuhn entering
turn one. Two laps later at the halfway point the pair were over six seconds
ahead of the next position car, and began lapping the tail of the field.
Stratton passed Kuhn going down the backstretch between lapped cars. Kuhn drew
even entering turn three when the two cars made contact, with Stratton hitting
the wall and flipping several times. Stratton escaped injury in the incident.
On the restart Kuhn easily pulled away and held a two-three second lead over
the field for the remainder of the race. Kuhn driving the Kuhn
Motorsports Stealth/Mopar finished 3.72 seconds ahead of Brand Waelti. After
starting in 18th position Waelti passed Ray for the runner-up position on the
final lap. Ray, Fiscus and Mike Hess completed the top five.
