1,000th Driver Of The Year Race To Be Held At Angell Park Speedway

Sun Prairie, WI---The 1,000th National Midget Driver of the Year point race will be held on Sunday August 17th at the Angell Park Speedway. The event will be sanctioned by the Badger Midget Series.

The National Midget Driver of the Year Championship began in 1999, previous champions have been: Jason Leffler (’99), Kasey Kahne (’00), Tracy Hines (’ 01), and Aaron Fike (’02).

During the period, only the Indianapolis Speedrome has run more events (69), than Angell Park Speedway. “It is a great honor for Angell Park, to be hosting event number 1,000, the award is one of the sports top honors” commented Les McBurney, general manager of Angell Park.

The award determines the top midget driver using a unique point system. The point system is based on several factors, car count, purse, and event prestige, and included results from all fifteen midget series. Points are also kept for manufacturers as the top chassis, and engine manufacturer are honored at seasons end.
