Aaron Fiscus Wins Wild Prairie Show
Sun Prairie, Wis, July 20---Aaron Fiscus emerged with the 25-lap Badger Midget
Series Feature victory, Sunday Night at Angell Park Speedway. During the
evening events six drivers flipped, all escaping injury. Only eight of the
feature starting field of twenty two cars finished the distance.
On the opening lap as the field approached the first turn several cars made
contact, and a twelve car accident took place, with Scott Hatton flipping. Six
cars were sidelined from the incident. On the restart Randy Koch jumped into
the lead, closely followed by Fiscus. Fiscus passed Koch for the lead on the
third lap entering turn three.
The race was slowed for two additional cautions, and a red flag for Brandon
Waelti's flip on the tenth lap. At the midway point Fiscus held a 2 second
lead over Nick Lundgreen, with only nine cars still running. Another caution
appeared with six laps remaining for debris.
During the final six laps Fiscus was challenged by Lundgreen, Aaron Fike, and
Rick Mueller. Mueller took second place with two laps remaining and closed to
within 0.94 second of Fiscus at the finish. Following Fiscus who drove the Jim
Fiscus owned Buzzard-Esslinger were: Mueller, Fike, Lundgreen, and series
point leader Davey Ray. Ray who earlier in the night turned fast time, and won
the trophy dash flipped in his heat race, damaging the Ralph Wilke entry. Ray
then took over the Rick Imhoff Stealth for the semi, and feature. Pat Hensen,
Jake Lamphier, and Ken Dull also flipped during preliminary race action.
Ray holds a 119 point lead over Dan Boorse heading into this weekends
doubleheader. The sixth annual Milwaukee Cup Midget Classic at Hales Corners
Speedway on Friday July 25, and then the Showdown at the 'Prairie on Sunday.
Both events will be co-sanctioned with the NAMARS National Midget Series.
