Miller Grabs Second Straight Big 8 Series Win
By: Kevin Ramsell
Monday, July 03, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) – Jeremy Miller and Ricky Bilderback
put on a classic short track battle in the third round of the 2006 Big 8
Series season. At the finish, it was Miller collecting his second
straight win.
Chad Stevens grabbed the early lead over Bob Kahler as Greg Oliver waved the
green flag for the 76-lap feature event. Bilderback made the move of the
race on the opening lap as he went three wide to go from sixth to third coming
out of turn two.
Miller, who started third, worked his way up to battle Stevens for the lead on
lap 10. But, the caution flew when Chad Misslich hit the backstretch
wall. On the re-start, Miller got on the inside of Stevens and took over
the top spot on lap 13. Bilderback moved to second a lap later.
Miller and Bilderback put on a great show for the fans as Bilderback tried to
find a way to get past the Big 8 point leader. But, Miller would hold
off the numerous attempts made by Bilderback to get his second straight Big 8
Series win.
“Easy in and hard off, easy in and hard off is what my spotter told me all
night,” and excited Miller said in victory lane. “Man this is pretty
awesome. He ran me clean all night.”
“I tried to use him up and he wouldn’t let me use him up,” Bilderback
stated after the race. Bob Kahler had a great run to come home third
with Jerry Gille in fourth and John Reynolds Jr. rounding out the top five.
Gille set the fast time of evening with a lap of 13.966 seconds.
The next Big 8 Series race is Thursday, August 3rd at Lake Geneva Raceway.
Jon Reynolds got behind the wheel for the first time in over a year and a half
and made the most of it in the Area Sportsman feature.
Reynolds took the lead over Chico Riedner at the start of the 36-lap feature
event. The only caution flew on lap 14 when Bobbi Bishofberger and
Brandon Eash got together coming off of turn two. Eash spun and
collected Casey Burns. Eash was done for the evening.
Reynolds continued to lead while Fred Nason and Brock Behnke put on a great
battle for second.
Reynolds piloted the 1970 Barracuda to the checkered flag with Nason holding
off Behnke for second. Riedner held on to fourth with Chad Smith
rounding out the top-five.
“This car was totaled, and I am about totaled. The crew got this car back
together and they put me in it,” Reynolds stated in victory lane.
