Madison Opener Added To Big 8 Series Schedule
By: Kevin Ramsell
Thursday, April 20, 2006 (Loves Park, IL) - Big 8 Series Officials have just
announced that the Series will compete at Madison International Speedway on
Sunday, May 7, 2006. The Series will run in support of the season opener
event along with the Wisconsin Challenge Series.
"I realize this is short notice for many of our competitors," Gregg
McKarns, Big 8 Series Director stated. "MIS was hoping to have
their quarter-mile track ready to race on for their opener, but the inclement
weather has delayed the completion. Steve Einhaus invited the Big 8
Series to compete on their half-mile paved oval, and we couldn't pass up this
opportunity."
This will be the first of two visits that the Big 8 Series will make to the
famed facility. The event on May 7th will have the stars and cars of the
Big 8 Series compete on the fast half-mile oval. The second visit on
June 27th will be in conjunction with the First Supply All-Star Challenge
presented by the Bold Look of Kohler. On that night, the Big 8 Series
drivers will show their skills on MIS's new quarter-mile track.
Entry forms for this event will be mailed to the Big 8 Series competitors and
also available online at www.big8series.com.
Going into the Madison event, Mike Beyer currently has a three point lead over
Jeremy Miller in the 2006 standings after one event. Beyer will be
looking for his third Big 8 Series win a row, and fourth overall. Beyer
won the 2005 season finale in La Crosse and the 2006 season opener at
Rockford.
