Charter Raceway Park Opens 2007 Season

Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, WI opened the 2007 Racing Season with over
100 cars on hand for Charter ½ Price Night/Meeker Construction Night at the
Races.
After taking a three-year absence to race late models, two-time track champion
Tim Lemirande of Verona returned to the Johnsonville Brats Modified Division
in style as he captured the 20-lap A-Main event on Saturday night. Lemirande
moved past Dennis Krause of Oconomowoc on lap two and led the rest of the way
to pick up the win. Brad McGuire of New Berlin turned in a strong run as he
closed in on Lemirande in the closing laps and finished in second. Mike
Sandholm of Oconomowoc moved up through the traffic to finish in third. Dave
Schoenberger of Beaver Dam also ran well to take the fourth position. Mitch
McGrath of Neosho followed in fifth.
Roger Lee of Wind Lake started his bid for a repeat championship by cruising
to the win in the Grand Nationals 20-lap A-Main. Lee wasted little time moving
up from his fourth row starting position to take the lead on lap two. Lee
pulled away from the rest of the field on his way to the checkered flag. Steve
Seitz of Beaver Dam drove to second ahead of Brian Gerber of Waupun. John
Sidesky of Muskego came from the fifth row to finish in fourth. Andy Bolstad
of Montello came across the line in fifth.
Jerry Winkler of Oshkosh lead from start to finish in claiming the win in the
20-lap Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks A-Main. Winkler had to hold off the
challenges of second place finisher Dan Troyan of Menomonie Falls. Roger Frank
of Beaver Dam, running in his first stocks event after winning the Dirt Devils
championship last season, was also in the thick of the battle and finished in
third. Jon Schultz of Waunakee moved up from the fifth row to take fourth
ahead of Andrew Araco of New Berlin.
Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City rocketed from his second row starting position to
take the lead on lap one of the 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX
Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series A-Main. Wyttenbach was first
pressured by Eric Barth of Sauk City and then later by Brad Weber of Rolling
Prairie. Wyttenbach was up to the challenges as he raced to the checkered flag
and the win. Weber finished in second with Barth taking the third spot. Brian
Peterson of Mukwonago ran strong and finished in fourth. Phil Van Tatenhove of
Gibbsville drove to fifth.
Aaron Stolp of West Allis held off Shaun Deibert of West Milwaukee to capture
the 20-lap Wallys Auto Dirt Devils A-Main. Doug Draheim of Brookfield was
closing in on the leaders and finished in third. Cody Allard of Waupun
followed in fourth ahead of Eddie Lemay III of Milwaukee.
Modified B-Main wins were registered by Mitch McGrath, Russ Reinwald of Iron
Ridge and Aaron Rake of Beaver Dam.
Heat race wins in the Modifieds were recorded by Kris Peterson of Mukwonago,
Mike Meeker of Columbus, Eddie Lemay Jr. of Milwaukee, Brad McGuire, Frank
Firari of Lowell and Mike Sandholm. Grand National heat race wins went to Don
Sorce Jr. of West Allis, Steve Seitz and Roger Lee. In the Stocks division,
Roger Frank and Jon Schultz drove to heat race wins. Brad Weber and Joel
Wyttenbach were victorious in the Legends heats. Dirt Devil heat race wins
went to Doug Draheim and Cody Allard.
