A huge crowd was on hand Saturday night for Fan Appreciation Night at The
Raceway at Powercom Park. Fans were treated to a great night of racing topped
off with the Bartolotta Fireworks extravaganza.
Steve Mueller of Mukwonago captured the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modified
A-Main for his second win of the season. His first win came in the
non-qualifiers A-Main during the two day modified special the previous week.
Mueller used the outside groove to work his way up from his fourth row
starting position to challenge Rob Schmid of Burnett for the lead on lap
fifteen. Schmid, who had led for eleven laps, spun as he exited turn four to
hand over the lead to Mueller. Following the restart, Mueller continued to run
up against the cushion and remained out in front the rest of the way to score
the win. Russ Reinwald of Iron Ridge moved up to finish in second. Early race
leader, Don Scheffler of Wauwatosa, drove to third. Mike Sandholm of
Oconomowoc charged from row eight to take the fourth position. Point leader
Craig Priewe of Beaver Dam also came a long way as he picked his way up
through the traffic to finish in fifth after starting in row nine.
Point leader Roger Lee of Wind Lake powered his way to the front from his
fifth row starting position by using the outside groove and drove to his third
win of the season in the 20-lap Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals
A-Main. All three wins have come in the last three events for Lee. Don Sorce
Jr. of West Allis, who started alongside Lee, crossed the line in second. Dan
Schumacher of Milwaukee, who led the opening lap, drove to third ahead of
Tommy Moore of Muskego and Steve Seitz of Beaver Dam.
In the Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks division, Brent and Craig Lepple of
Beaver Dam trade off driving the #49 car. Last week, Brent drove to the win in
the 20-lap A-Main. This week the #49 was back in the Winners Circle as
Craig drove to his first win of the season. Dan Troyan of Menomonee Falls, who
led in the middle stage of the race, drove to second. Mike Murray of Beaver
Dam followed in third. Don Vander Galien of Wautoma worked his way up to
finish in fourth. Tom Grotenhuis of Beaver Dam returned to action and had a
strong fifth place run.
Eric Barth of Sauk City took over the lead from Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie
on lap ten and then held off the late race challenge of Weber to take the win
in the 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt
Series A-Main. It was the fourth win of the season for Barth, who took over
the point lead in the division. Warren Ropp of Kalona, IA was coming on strong
and finished in third behind Barth & Weber. Bethany Wyttenbach of Plain,
fresh off a Pro Division Regional Qualifier win last weekend in Wheatland, MO,
had a strong fourth place finish. Joey Johnson of Slinger was fifth.
Doug Draheim of Brookfield came from the back of the pack to claim the win in
the 20-lap Wallys Auto Dirt Devils A-Main. It was Draheims third win of
the season. Aaron Stolp of West Allis moved up well to finish in third ahead
of Matthew Janke of Mequon. Point leader Roger Frank of Beaver Dam and Jeremy
Schwoch of Waupun also came from deep in the pack to take fourth and fifth
respectively.
Modified B-Main victories were recorded by Joe McGrath of Neosho, Dennis
Haldemann of Randolph, and Mike Sandholm.
Modified heat race wins were registered by Aaron Rake of Beaver Dam, Dennis
Krause of Oconomowoc, Steve Mueller, Don Scheffler, Russ Reinwald, and Rob
Schmid. The grand national heat race wins went to Todd Rohde of Fairwater and
Steve Seitz. The stocks heat race victors were Craig Lepple and Jim Berkevich
of Beaver Dam. In the legends heats, Greg Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls and Joel
Wyttenbach of Sauk City drove to wins. The dirt devils heat race wins went to
Kevin Allard of Brandon, Jeff Stange of Waupun, and Aaron Stolp.
