Schraufnagel Takes Second Mod Win At Powercom Park

Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam rocketed from his eighth row starting position
to take over the lead on lap seven and then powered away for his second win of
the season in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modified A-Main on DMD Trucking of
Richfield Night at the Raceway at Powercom Park on Saturday night. Russ
Reinwald of Iron Ridge drove to second. Steve Mueller of Mukwonago moved up
from midway in the pack to finish in third. Point leader Craig Priewe of
Beaver Dam came all the way from the twenty-first starting position to finish
in fourth. Frank Firari of Lowell also moved up well to finish in fifth.
In the 20-lap Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals A-Main, Roger Lee of
Wind Lake raced to his first win of the season. Point leader, Don Sorce Jr. of
West Allis picked his way through traffic to finish in second. Nick Schumacher
of Eagle drove to third ahead of Todd Ascherien of Beaver Dam. Dan Schumacher
of Milwaukee followed in fifth.
In the caution plagued Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks A-Main, Matt Bedker
of Beaver Dam led nearly all the way to capture his second win of the season.
Aaron Streblow Waupun and Barry Cates of Greenfield followed Bedker across the
line, but were later disqualified for equipment violations. That moved Craig
Lepple of Beaver Dam up to second. Dan Troyan of Menomonie Falls was credited
with third. Jon Schultz of Belleville was fourth. Fifth went to point leader
Chuck Hummelmeier of Friesland.
In an exciting race that saw several lead changes, Brad Weber of Rolling
Prairie captured the 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends
Racing Dirt Series A-Main. It was the first A-Main win for Weber, a former
midget driver who is in his first year of legends racing. Joel Wyttenbach of
Sauk City, who diced it out with Weber, finished in second and took over the
point lead in the division. Adam Reed of Beaver Dam, who also mixed it up with
Weber and Wyttenbach, crossed the line in third. Eric Barth of Sauk City drove
to fourth ahead of Warren Ropp of Kalona, IA.
In an event marked by two multi-car incidents, Doug Draheim of Brookfield
raced from the back of the pack to take over the lead on lap nineteen and go
onto score his second win of the season in the Wallys Auto Dirt Devils
20-lap A-Main. Andy Sullivan of Horicon drove to second. Point leader Roger
Frank of Beaver Dam, who was involved in the first incident, recovered well to
finish in third. Eddie Lemay III of Milwaukee also came back strong to finish
in fourth. Kip Klawitter of Berlin was fifth.
B-Main wins were recorded by Jim Zdroik of Big Bend, Craig Priewe and Jay
Schraufnagel in the modifieds. Eddie Lemay III won the dirt devils B-Main.
Modified heat race victories were picked up by Russ Reinwald, Larry Zirbel,
Joe McGrath, Frank Firari, Rob Schmid of Burnett and Matt Rechek of Beaver
Dam. Don Sorce Jr. and Roger Lee were victorious in the grand national heats.
Aaron Streblow and Chuck Hummelmeier claimed the stocks heats. Legend heat
race wins went to Joel Wyttenbach, Brad Weber and Adam Reed. The dirt devils
heat race wins were recorded by Shawn Klapps Jr. of Mauston, Shaun Diebert and
Roger Frank.
