Priewe Gets First Mod Win At Powercom Park

Craig Priewe of Beaver Dam picked up his first win of the season as he drove
to victory in the 20-lap Johnsonville Brats Modified A-Main on Coca-Cola
Bottling of Wisconsin Night at The Raceway at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, WI
on Saturday night. Priewe made his move on lap sixteen when he was able to get
to the inside and slip past Dave Schoenberger of Beaver Dam to take over the
lead and race to the win. Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam moved up through the
field to finish in second. Schoenberger, who led the first fifteen circuits,
finished his strong run in third. Steve Mueller of Mukwonago drove to fourth
ahead of Mike Sandholm of Oconomowoc.
Don Sorce Jr. of West Allis took over the point lead when he captured the
20-lap Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals A-Main. It was the second
win of the season for Sorce. Roger Lee of Wind Lake closed in on Sorce with
four laps remaining, but was unable to get by and crossed the line in second.
Scott Houpt of Belgium made his first appearance of the season and drove to
third. Tommy Moore of Muskego followed in fourth. Dion Wahl of Omro was fifth.
In the 20-lap Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks A-Main, Chuck Hummelmeier of
Friesland dove inside Jerry Winkler of Oshkosh as the pair exited turn two on
lap thirteen and took over the lead. Hummelmeier remained out in front the
rest of the way to pick up his second consecutive win and move into the lead
in the point standings. Winkler finished second ahead of Dan Troyan of
Menomonee Falls. Barry Cates of Greenfield followed in fourth. Craig Lepple of
Beaver Dam was fifth.
In the thrilling 20-lap Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends
Racing Dirt Series A-Main, Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City picked up his second
win of the season. The win did not come easy as Wyttenbach had to hold off the
challenges of Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie. Point leader Eric Barth of Sauk
City followed Wyttenbach and Weber across the line to take third. Greg
Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls raced to fourth ahead of Adam Reed of Beaver Dam.
In the closest finish of the evening, Andy Sullivan of Horicon edged out
Jeremy Schwoch of Waupun to claim his first win in the 20-lap Wallys Auto
Dirt Devils A-Main. Sullivan and Schwoch swapped the lead a couple of times
before the sprint out of turn four that saw the two trade a little paint as
they raced side by side to the checkered flag. Tim Sheppard of Beaver Dam
followed in third ahead of Eddie Lemay III of Milwaukee and Aaron Stolp of
West Allis. Lemay and Stolp are now tied for the point lead in the
division.
In action earlier in the evening, Mike Sandholm and Jeremy Christians picked
up wins in modified B-Main events. Heat wins went to Rob Schmid of Burnett,
Frank Firari of Lowell, Russ Reinwald of Iron Ridge, Craig Priewe, Aaron Rake
of Beaver Dam and John Stanton of Reeseville.
Grand National heat race victories went to Tommy Moore and Dan Schumacher of
Milwaukee. Stock heat wins were registered by Craig Lepple and Jerry Winkler.
Legends heat wins were recorded by Joel Wyttenbach and Eric Barth. Dirt devils
heat race action saw Kevin Schutz of Madison, Jeremy Schwoch and Kevin Allard
of Brandon race to wins.
The stocks division ran a special Fathers Day heat in which fathers of drivers
competed. Those racing were not allowed to have previous race experience. Jeff
Schepp of Beaver Dam picked up the win in the 5-lap event.
