It's Haudenschild With Outlaw Win At Powercom
The Raceway at Powercom Park
June 14, 2006
by Dennis Thompson
The World of Outlaw Sprints traveled to the Raceway at Powercom Park on
Wednesday night and were joined by the Gibbsville Cheese INEX
Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series. It was an outstanding night of
racing that saw A-Main wins claimed by Jac Haudenschild for the World of
Outlaws and by Adam Reed of Beaver Dam in the Legends.
Donny Schatz powered his way into the lead at the start of the 40-lap WOO
A-Main. Schatz looked untouchable in the early going. But as began to lap the
cars at the tail of the field, Jac Haudenschild quickly reeled him in and the
race for the top spot was on. On lap twenty-eight, Haudenschild found an
opening and rocketed into the lead. Schatz tried to come back, but it was
Haudenschild who would go on to pick up his third win of the season. Craig
Dollansky followed Haudenschild and Schatz across the line for third. Daryn
Pittman, winner last September at The Raceway at Powercom Park, drove to
fourth. Sammy Swindell, who transferred into the A-Main by winning the B-Main,
took the fifth position. For complete results, check the World of Outlaws
press release.
The Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends/Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series 20-lap
A-Main proved to be one of the most exciting races of the evening. Adam Reed
jumped out in front of the twenty-two car field at the drop of the green flag.
There was no breathing room for Reed as the field stayed packed together up
front. Reed continued to hold the top spot, but was challenged by several
drivers using multiple grooves. Among those in the pack putting the pressure
on were Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City, Brad Weber of Rolling Prairie, Warren
Ropp of Kalona, IA, Eric Barth of Sauk City and Chad Patch of Eldridge, IA.
Also dicing for position were Brandon Hentges of Marion, IA and Keith Moline
of Davennport, IA. Wyttenbach made a move to the inside of Reed as they came
out of turn two and went down the back straight. Wyttenbach led the lap as
Reed tried to fight back along with Barth, Weber and Ropp. Terry Walber
brought out the first caution of the event on lap eight when he spun in turn
two. When the race went back to green Wyttenbach led the field but something
went amiss as he slowed and then exited to the pits. That put Reed back out in
front. As the front pack continued to fight it and pressure Reed, Eric Barth
began to make the most serious bid for the lead. Walber brought out the second
caution of the event when he had trouble with turn four on lap fourteen. Back
under green, Barth again worked on Reed with Ropp and Weber right behind.
Barth dove inside Reed on lap seventeen, but Reed fought back and continued to
lead. At the checkered flag, it was Reed picking up his first win of the
season as he edged out Barth. Barth moved into the point lead with his second
place finish. Brad Weber finished a close third winning the battle with Warren
Ropp, who came across the line in fourth. Brandon Hentges followed in fifth.
Chad Patch drove to sixth. Mike Mueller of Waupun, in his first season in the
legends division, had a strong run crossing the line in seventh. Kevin Brill
was eighth ahead of Joey Johnson of Slinger and 15 year old Cam Schafer
of Glenwood, MN.
In heat race action earlier in the evening, Chad Patch fought it out with Adam
Reed and picked up the win in heat one. Joel Wyttenbach led from start to
finish to claim heat two. Keith Moline came from the back of the pack to edge
out Eric Barth to win the third heat.
