Czarapata Scores First Season Win At Powercom Park

Brandon Czarapata of Kaukauna picked up his first win of the season in the
20-lap Shaver Builders & Home Improvement Modified A-Main at The Raceway
at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday night.
John Stanton of Reeseville grabbed the lead at the start of the event.
Czarapata quickly moved up from the third row and began to challenge for the
lead. The first caution of the event occurred on lap two for an incident
involving Chris Piquette of Random Lake and Marc Caswell of West Allis.
Czarapata wasted little time after the restart as he took command of the top
spot on lap three. On the first lap of the restart the red flag halted the
race when Dan Tafelski of West Allis rolled his ride on the back chute.
Another car had trouble exiting turn two and as a number of cars tried to
avoid the slowed car, Tafelski was not as fortunate as the others and ended up
going for the wild ride. Once back under green, Brian Crapser of Brookfield
was on the move and was able to get by Czarapata on lap six. Crapser ran out
in front until lap thirteen when he crashed in turn three. Czarapata inherited
the lead back and this time he stayed out in front the rest of the way and
earn the trip to victory lane. Andy Voigt of Beaver Dam moved up from the
fifth row to finish in second. Rick Strommen of Beaver Dam had his best finish
of the season by taking third. Steve Mueller of Mukwonago picked his way up
through traffic to finish in fourth. Eddie Lemay Jr. of Milwaukee came from
the eighth row to place fifth and take over the lead in the point
standings.
Roger Lee of Wind Lake cruised to his third win of the season when he captured
the 20-lap Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals A-Main. Dan Schumacher
of Milwaukee ran near the front throughout the event to finish in second. Don
Sorce Jr. of West Allis moved up from the fifth row to cross the line in
third. Nathan Persha of Iron Ridge drove to fourth. Dave Gorny of West Allis
was fifth.
The Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks 20-lap A-Main proved to be one of the
most exciting events of the evening. Jeff Link of Beaver Dam led for the first
three laps before giving way to Mike Murray of Beaver Dam. With Murray out in
front, Chuck Hummelmeier of Friesland moved up and began to pressure Murray
for the lead. The two engaged in a fierce battle with Murray running the high
groove while Hummelmeier tried to get by on the inside. After repeatedly
trying to get by Murray, Hummelmeier was able to nose ahead of Murray on lap
sixteen. Murray came back strong and regained the lead one lap later. That
only lasted one lap as Hummelmeier once again forged out front on lap
eighteen. This time Hummelmeier would stay out in front and go onto record his
first win of the season. Hummelmeier is the fifth different winner in the five
events run so far this season for the division. Jasper Drengler of Shawano
followed Hummeleier and Murray across the line to take third. Matt Bedker of
Beaver Dam drove to fourth. Dan Troyan of Menomonee Falls was fifth.
George Giesen of Neenah grabbed the lead at the start of the Gibbsville Cheese
Wisconsin Legends Racing Dirt Series 20-lap A-Main. However, Joel Wyttenbach
charged from his fifth row starting position to take over the lead on lap two.
The first caution of the event came out for a spin by Steve Boelter of Verona
in turn two. Back under green, Aaron Rake of Beaver Dam, who had started
alongside Wyttenbach in the fifth row, was on the move and eventually won the
battle with Warren Ropp of Kalona, IA to take over second. Rake then reeled in
Wyttenbach and began to challenge for the lead. Rake was able to run close
behind Wyttenbach but could not pull off a move to take over the top spot.
With only one lap remaining, Dan Neuman of Beaver Dam and Phil Van Tatenhove
of Sheboygan Falls tangled in turn three to bring out the caution and set up
the one lap dash to the finish. Wyttenbach led the field down into turn one on
the restart but Rake dove to the inside and the two raced it out side by side.
As the checkered flag waved, it was Rake across the line first to score his
second win of the season. Warren Ropp followed Rake and Wyttenbach across the
line to take third. Keith Moline of Cedar Rapids, IA drove to fourth ahead of
Kevin Brill of Oostburg.
Jon Schultz of Belleville came from far back in the pack to race to victory in
the 20-lap Wallys Auto Dirt Devil A-Main. Tim Draheim of Beaver Dam
finished a close second. Schultz and Draheim are now tied for the lead in the
division point standings. Josh Schmitt of Juneau also moved up well to finish
in third. Aaron Stolp of Milwaukee was fourth. Dustin Schwandt of Ripon came
across the line in fifth. Nick Firari of Reeseville rolled his ride in turn
two on lap seven.
B-Main wins were registered by Eddie Lemay Jr. and Rob Schmid of Burnett in
the modifieds and by Jon Schultz in the dirt devils.
Modified heat race victories were recorded by Rick Strommen, John Stanton,
Scott Magsamen of Rio, Bruce Horst of Hartford and Brandon Czarapata. Grand
National heat race wins went to Steve Seitz of Beaver Dam and Roger Lee. Heat
race wins in the stocks were claimed by Chuck Hummelmeier and Don Vander
Galien. Adam Reed of Slinger and Aaron Rake were victorious in the legend
heats. Dirt Devil heat race wins were taken by Mike Mueller of Waupun, Aaron
Stolp and Roger Frank of Beaver Dam.
