Neely held a two second lead at the midway point over Tom Hessert, and Levi Jones. After Tracy Hines stalled on the track bunching up the field on the 17th lap. One lap later Davey Ray hit the third turn wall and flipped, causing a red flag.

On the restart Jones challenged Neely several times but couldn't pull off the pass.    On the final lap Jones using the high line attempted a pass entering turn three at the same time Neely  hit a rut losing his car to lose speed, and made contact with Jones.
