Schraufnagel Takes Number Eight At Powercom Park

Jay Schraufnagel of Beaver Dam charged from his ninth row starting position to
win the Coca-Cola Classic Clash on the Clay 25-lap A-Main for the Suburban
Motors Harley-Davidson Buell / Triton Trailers Modified division at the
Raceway at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam, WI on Saturday night. Schraufnagel,
the track champion in the division for the season, powered his way into
the lead on lap fifteen on his way to his eighth win at the facility this
season. Joe McGrath of Neosho, who led in the middle stages of the event,
drove to second. Andy Voigt of Beaver Dam moved up through the pack from the
sixth row to finish in third. Steve Mueller of Mukwonago also moved up to take
fourth ahead of George Scheffler of Waukesha.
Roger Lee of Wind Lake led from start to finish in capturing his seventh win
of the season in the Northwoods Paper Converting Grand Nationals 20-lap
A-Main. Larry Richards of Montello finished in second followed closely by
Jesse Cullen. Bernie Schommer of Chilton came across the line in fourth. Jeff
Richards of Montello was fifth.
J.J. Wieckowski of Waukesha made his visit to the track worthwhile as he drove
to victory in the Dodge Central Credit Union Stocks 20-lap A-Main.
Wieckowski’s win did not come easy as he had to hold off the challenges of
the recently crowned track champion, Trevor Schmidt of Hartford. Dannon
Tessmer of Hartford battled his way to a third place finish. Jeff Schepp of
Beaver Dam followed in fourth. Jeff Link of Beaver Dam was fifth.
The Gibbsville Cheese INEX Legends division ran A-Mains on both nights. On
Friday night, Greg Hartlaub of Sheboygan Falls charged from the back row to
take over the lead with one lap to go and then drove to his third win of the
season in the 20-lap event. Kevin Brill of Oostburg, who had led from the
start, settled for second. Joe Johnson of Slinger had a strong run finishing
in third. Ron Smith of Speedway, IN followed in fourth. Aaron Rake of Beaver
Dam was fifth.
In the Saturday night Legend A-Main, Joel Wyttenbach of Sauk City scored his
fourth win of the season. Ron Smith worked his way up to finish in second
ahead of track champion Eric Barth of Sauk City. Greg Hartlaub moved up from
the fifth row to take fourth. Adam Reed of Slinger was fifth.
Track champion Mike Mueller of Waupun became the fourth driver to lead the
20-lap Wally’s Auto Dirt Devil A-Main when he took over the top spot on lap
seventeen. Mueller remained out in front the rest of the way to register his
third win of the season. Jon Schultz of Belleville followed closely behind in
second. Ron Koenig of Fox Lake moved up to finish in third. Nick Firari of
Reeseville came from the seventh row to cross the line in fourth. Jeremy
Schwoch of Waupun drove to fifth.
In B-Main action on Saturday night, Jay Schraufnagel picked up the win in the
modifieds while Tim Thrun of Horicon was the victor in the dirt devils
division.
Friday night preliminary action saw wins go to Bill Lemay of Lannon, Joe
McGrath, Jim Zdroik of Big Bend and Dan Tafelski of West Allis in the modified
division. Grand National wins were recorded by Larry Richards and Bernie
Schommer. J.J. Wieckowski and Dannon Tessmer were victorious in the stocks
division. Preliminary event wins in the dirt devils division were claimed by
Kip Klawitter of Berlin, Mike Mueller, Jasper Drengler of Shawano, Nick Firari
and Jolene Wille of Beaver Dam.
