USAC Young Guns Lead Charge To PowerCom Park
Beaver Dam, Wis.---The youth moment in racing is very evident in the USAC
Racing. Ten drivers, 24 years old and younger, are among the headliners entered
in the upcoming April 24 USAC Valvoline National Sprint Car, and USAC National
Midget Series doubleheader. Gates will open at 2:00pm, with qualifying at
2:30pm, and the first race at 4:00pm.
Leading the entries will be Bobby East, 19, of Brownsburg, Ind. East currently
leads the USAC National Midget Series point standings, and has scored one win
this season at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. East holds the record for
being the youngest driver to win a USAC National event, capturing the midget
race at Illiana Motor Speedway (Schereville, Ind.) on July 11, 2001, at the
age of 16 years, 6 months, and 25 days old.
Josh Wise, 21, Riverside, Calif., is currently fourth in midget points, and is
in his first year driving for Tony Stewart Motorsports. Wise will pilot Keith
Kunz's second entry in the Sprint Car event. Wise last year won the Belleville
Midget Nationals, and in 1999 captured the USAC TQ Championship at the age of
16 years old, becoming the youngest champion in USAC history.
Aaron Fike, 21, Galesburg,Ill. is a two-time National Midget Driver of the
Year Champion, and won the 2002 BadgerMidget sEries title. Fike has one career
Badger Midget feature win at PowerCom Park, and holds the all-time one-lap
qualifying track record.
Davey Ray, 23, Rockford, Ill. won the Badger Midget feature at PowerCom Park
on August 23, 2003, on his way to winning the Badger Championship. Campbell,
California's Bud Kaeding, 23, captured the 1999 USAC Western Sprint Car Series
Championship, and has been a threat in the National Series the past three
seasons. Cole carter, 21, Brownsburg, Ind., and Brad Kuhn, 22, Avon, Ind. are
currently ranked fifth, and sixth in midget points.
Boston Reid, 21, Fairmont, Ind. is excepted to be a leading contender for the
Sprint Car title this season. Reid scored his initial USAC win last
season. Marc Jessup, 20, Camby, Ind., was the series Most Improved Driver last
season, and will run his first full-time effort in USAC racing. Tom Hessert,
17,Cherry Hill, New Jersey will compete in both the midget and sprint events.
