All Types Of Race Cars Welcome At Powercom Practice Sessions
March 30, 2004

BEAVER DAM, WI – Practice makes perfect.  And that will be the case at the two Wisconsin Motorsports promoted tracks – The Raceway at Powercom Park and the Powercom Speed Zone – as three dates have been inked for drivers to fine tune their cars.

The Raceway at Powercom Park will host one session.  Set for Saturday, April 17th from 12 Noon until 4:00 pm the track will be open to any type of car provided that it passes the necessary safety inspection.  The same can be said for the two practice days set for the Speed Zone, which will take place on Sunday, April 18th and then again on April 25th.  Times will be the same as at Powercom Park.

“We really encourage any driver that plans on racing at either track during the year to come out and take part in this preseason program,” said Rex Melius, General Manager of Wisconsin Motorsports.  “Because of the diverse schedules that we have at both tracks I would guess that there may be as many as 10 different types of cars at our practice sessions.

“Part of the idea is to make sure that the cars are safe.  We’ll have our tech crew on hand to look over the cars before they can go on the track.  We’re also going to be in the process of registering drivers that will compete at either track on regular basis during the same time.  It’s not only a test session for the drivers but it gives the fans a chance to see the cars and also gives the staff a run through on the things that need to be done on race day.”

For those planning on competing at either track on a regular basis during the coming season permanent pit stalls will be available.  Drivers that held a pit spot during the 2003 will once again be offered the same spot for 2004.  Any new drivers wishing to purchase a pit stall can do so on any of the practice days at the tracks.  Pit stalls will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis following purchase by those that held Pit spots the previous year.

The 2004 season for Wisconsin Motorsports officially opens on Saturday afternoon, April 24th with a USAC National doubleheader featuring non-winged sprint cars and midgets.  One week later the regular season lid-lifter takes place at Powercom Park.  The Powercom Speed Zone opens for racing on Tuesday night, May 4th.

Advance sale tickets for the USAC event are available at this time along with Powercom Park’s first visit in 2004 by the World of Outlaws Sprint Series, which will take place on Saturday night, June 12th.  For more information on advance sale tickets or the practice sessions contact Wisconsin Motorsports at (920) 887-1600.

The Powercom Speed Zone is located just off of Highway 41 on Highway 76, north of Oshkosh.  The Raceway at Powercom Park is on Highway 33 and Highway 151 in Beaver Dam.
