Powercom Park, Powercom Speed Zone Set Divisional Sponsors For 2004

January 28, 2004

BEAVER DAM, WI – With the season opening events just a few months away at both of their race tracks, Wisconsin Motorsports, Inc., has made strides in securing sponsorship for each class of car that will be in action during 2004 at the Raceway at Powercom Park and the Powercom Speed Zone.

“In looking at the big picture I think we are about two or three months ahead of where we were last year and going into the 2003 season,” said Rex Melius, General Manager of the two tracks.  “The sponsorship sales and marketing packages have been very well received by businesses in the area and I think that the general public is really starting to see the benefits of being involved with Wisconsin Motorsports.

“If we would have tried to find marketing partners two or three years ago for the classes that we race people would have thought we were nuts.  This is just another step in the right direction for both tracks and for Wisconsin Motorsports.”

Leading the way at both tracks for 2004 will be the modified division.  Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson/Buell of Thiensville has returned to sponsor the class at Powercom Park in Beaver Dam while Budweiser of Annheiser Busch has been signed to be the main backer of the Speed Zone in Oshkosh.

American Auto Sales of Oshkosh, which also supplies the pace car for all events at the Speed Zone, will be the title promoter of the Street Stock division for the coming season while Dodge Central Credit Union takes over as a backer for the Street Stock class at Powercom Park.

Gibbsville Cheese of Sheboygan Falls, a longtime backer of different forms of motorsports throughout the Midwest, has signed to sponsor the INEX Legend Cars at Powercom Park.  Wally’s Auto Parts of Beaver Dam will return as sponsor at Powercom Park in 2004 as it backs the every growing Dirt Devil division while The Sign Makers and Corporate Impressions of Oshkosh at the Speed Zone will sponsor the same class.

Northwoods Paper Converting of Beaver Dam, a relatively new company, will take on the role as sponsor of the Grand National division at Powercom Park.  Both Northwoods Paper Converting and Gibbsville Cheese are new sponsors to the regular race program at the track. A total of Twenty one (21) thousand dollars will be paid out in the point fund at the end of the year Celebration of Champions banquets.

“It’s a testament to our long range plan to have companies come back for a second, third, and fourth season and be a marketing partner with us,” Melius went on to say.  “In order to be successful in any business you need strong people around you and strong partners.  With someone like Suburban Motors or Budweiser you know you have that.

“All of our sponsors have been great.  It’s amazing that we can walk back into places, year-after-year, and pretty much get a great response.  People in auto racing really are brand loyal.  It makes a difference for businesses to have their name in front of the people that are going to buy the products they offer.”

The Raceway at Powercom Park will open for the 2004 season on Saturday, April 24th with a USAC sprint car-midget doubleheader followed by the regular season lid lifter the following Saturday, May 1st.  The Powercom Speed Zone will swing open its gates for the first time on Tuesday night, May 4th.

“The numbers are going to be up at both tracks, just from the amount of calls that we have received so far and the drivers that have registered in all of our divisions,” said Melius.  “I look for a banner year at both tracks.  I’ve said it before and will say it again.  The weekly program is the backbone to what we are doing at Wisconsin Motorsports.  I see a great regular season coming.”

A divisional partnership and promotion opportunity for the Grand Nationals at the Speed Zone is still available.  For more information on how to become a marketing partner with Wisconsin Motorsports feel free to call the track office at (920) 887-1600.
