The Raceway at Powercom Park & The Powercom Speedzone Awards

The Raceway at Powercom Park and The Powercom Speedzone held their 2003 Racing
Season Awards Banquet at The Golf Club at Camelot in Lomira on Saturday
November 8. The top five in the weekly divisions were honored. The sponsors,
fans, drivers, car owners and all who supported the two tracks during the
season were thanked. Plans are already being made for the season ahead.
In the Suburban Motors Harley Davidson/Buell Modified division, Tim Lemirande
captured the track championship at both The Raceway at Powercom Park and the
Powercom Speedzone. Lemirande, who also was champion at The Raceway at
Powercom Park in 2002, recorded five A-Main wins, ten top five A-Main finishes
and seven preliminary wins at The Raceway at Powercom Park while picking up
four A-Main wins, nine top five A-Main finishes and six preliminary wins at
the Powercom Speedzone on his way to the championships. Finishing second
through fifth at the Raceway at Powercom Park were Andy Voigt, Dan Miller,
Larry Zirbel and Chris Engels. Second through fifth at The Powercom Speedzone
were Chris Engels, Travis Spaulding, Brian Drexler and Dan Miller.
In the stocks division at The Raceway at Powercom Park, Nate Schepp claimed
the championship by a four point margin over Don VanderGalien. Schepp ran
consistent all season long as he had ten top five A-Main finishes and four
preliminary wins. Craig Lepple finished third in the final standings followed
by Dannon Tessmer and Dan Troyan.
The American Auto Sales Stocks Championship at The Powercom Speedzone was
claimed by Jerry Kope. On his way to the title, Kope scored two A-Main wins,
eight top five A-Main finishes and five preliminary wins. Dave Averkamp
finished seven points back in the chase for the championship. Mark Schultz was
third followed by Jeff Jahnke and Dan Wirl.
Randy Manos Jr. became the INEX Legends track champion at The Raceway at
Powercom Park by picking up five A-Main wins, thirteen top five A-Main
finishes and eight preliminary wins. 2002 champion Kevin Brill finished second
in the final standings. Eric Barth had another strong season finishing third
in points. Greg Hartlaub followed in fourth. Aaron Rake had a good season
finishing fifth.
The Grand National division became a part of the regular weekly programs in
2003 at both The Raceway at Powercom Park and the Powercom Speedzone. Troy
Weich made his move from the hobby stock division worthwhile as he drove to
the championship at The Raceway at Powercom Park. Weich recorded three A-Main
wins, nine top five A-Main finishes and three preliminary wins along the way.
Kevin Rank ran consistently and finished second in the final points tally. Tim
Doehling moved from the stocks division and ran well to finish in third. Bob
Cullen followed in fourth. Jason Winkler rounded out the top five in points.
Bob Cullen scored five A-Main wins eight top five A-Main finishes and seven
preliminary wins and took the championship for the Grand Nationals at The
Powercom Speedzone. Keith Schommer was in the thick of the battle up to the
final laps of the last race of the season and finished only eight points back
in the standings. Tim Doehling ran strong all season long and took third. Andy
Fuhrmann finished fourth in points ahead of Brian Gilles.
In the Wally’s Auto Dirt Devils division at The Raceway at Powercom Park,
Brandon Rennhack won the championship by racing to eight top five A-Main
finishes and five preliminary wins. The points chase was tight all season long
and was decided by a two point margin on the final night with Mike Mueller
finishing a very close second. Jon Schultz took third followed by Dana Wille
and Matt Rechek.
Chris Cottrell battled it out with Jasper Drengler in the points chase in the
Golf Central/Jurassic Valley/Wingers dirt devils division at The Powercom
Speedzone and it was Cottrell who took the championship honors by a four point
margin over Drengler. Bill Angermeyer finished third for the season followed
by Mike Mueller and Dustin Schwandt.
Korey Krupp raced to the championship in the Corporate Impressions/Quick Signs
Hobby Stock division at The Raceway at Powercom Park. Krupp had three top five
A-Main finishes to his credit. Russ Davison followed in second ahead of Ken
Wendt and Gary Clough. Matt Bedker and Bob Voigt finished in a tie for fifth
in points.
The Corporate Impressions/Quick Signs Hobby Stock division points title at The
Powercom Speedzone was claimed by Bob Voigt. Korey Krupp also ran well and
finished second with the third position taken by Rick Long. Ross Losse
followed in fourth. Rich Wojahn was fifth in points.
