Are You Ready? 21 ASA Late Model Series Races In The Next 20 Weekends
Lexington, Michigan (04/13/2007): The ASA Late
Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts is getting an unscheduled
weekend off as the third race of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 Season in the
ASALMS Challenge Division; The Glass Breaker 200 at the Toledo (OH) Speedway
in Toledo, Ohio has been postponed one week and is now set for Friday and
Saturday April 20-21, 2007.
Originally slated as a weekend off for the entire ASALMS; Next weekend (April
20-21, 2007) will start a grueling stretch of events that will last all the
way up until after the Labor Day Weekend. Between all three divisions of the
ASALMS, Challenge, Northern, and Southern Divisions, a grinding 20 straight
weekends of ASALMS racing, 21 total events during that time frame, begins with
the rescheduled Glass Breaker 200 in Toledo, Ohio.
After the ASALMS Challenge Division’s third race of the season, the 2007
campaign gets underway for the ASALMS Northern Division on Friday and Saturday
April 27-28, 2007 with the running of the A.S.I. Limited 100 Presented by
Lucas Oil Products and Ed Martin Automotive Group at the famed O’Reilly (IN)
Raceway Park at Indianapolis, located West of the Hoosier State’s Capital
city in Clermont, Indiana.
A week later, and after a seven week lay off, the ASALMS Southern Division
swings back into action and kicks off the month of May on Friday and Saturday
May 4-5, 2007 for Race Number Two on the 2007 calender at the Watermelon
Capital (GA) Speedway, located South of Macon in Cordele, Georgia for the
running of the Watermelon Bowl 125.
All three races, the next events for each of the three divisions in the next
three weeks will begin that 21 Races in 20 Weekends stretch for the ASALMS.

The month of May continues with two straight events for the ASALMS Challenge
Division in the state of Iowa. Beginning on Friday and Saturday May 11-12,
2007, “America’s Premiere Short Track Series” will return to the Hawkeye
Downs (IA) Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Crate Motor Classic 200.
The ASALMS Challenge Division will stick around the Hawkeye State for another
week after Hawkeye Downs and head down to the immaculate Iowa (IA) Speedway,
located East of Des Moines in Newton, Iowa the following weekend; Friday and
Saturday May 18-19, 2007 for the Iowa 150. This race will feature a unique
format as the cars and stars of the Challenge Division will run this event in
a Triple 50s format.
The ASALMS Northern Division brings in the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend on
Saturday May 27, 2007 with the 1st annual Bob Milner Memorial 125 at the
Grundy County (IL) Speedway, located West of Chicago in Morris, Illinois. This
event will honor our beloved ASALMS Photographer, the late Bob Milner and will
also be the second event of the season for the North cars and stars.
The month of June will have the ASALMS Southern Division kick things off with
the running of the South Georgia 100 at the beautiful South Georgia (GA)
Motorsports Park, located just North of the Florida/Georgia border in Cecil,
Georgia on Saturday June 2, 2007. This will be the third event of the season
for the Southern Division contingent.
The ASALMS Northern Division returns to action the following week at the
wicked fast high-banks of the I-70 (MO) Speedway, located East of Kansas City
in Odessa, Missouri on Saturday June 9, 2007 with the 2nd annual Missouri 100;
The third race of the season for the ASALMS Northern Division.
The ASALMS Challenge Division then returns after a couple of weeks off and
will stay in the ASALMS home state of Michigan and the running of The
Tradition 200 on Friday and Saturday June 15-16, 2007 at the famed Berlin (MI)
Raceway, which is West of Grand Rapids in Marne, Michigan. This event marks
the halfway point of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 Season in the ASALMS Challenge
Division.
A week later, the ASALMS Southern Division is back in the fold and a trip to
the Sunshine State is in order. The first ever ASALMS appearance at the
historic half mile of the New Smyrna (FL) Speedway, located South of Daytona
Beach in Samsula, Florida on Saturday June 23, 2007 for the Florida 100.
The Month of June ends with a history making event in the Five Year history of
the ASALMS. The Challenge Division will travel outside the borders of the
United States and into Canada with the running of the Canada 200 at the famed
Cayuga (ON) International Speedway in Hagersville, Ontario on Friday and
Saturday June 29-30, 2007 as the ASALMS helps celebrate Canada Day Weekend.
The hot summer months will be in full swing as the month of July starts out
with the ASALMS Northern Division returning to action on Saturday July 7, 2007
at the fast half mile of the Madison (WI) International Speedway, which is
South of Wisconsin’s capital city in Oregon, Wisconsin. The running of the
Mad Summer Meltdown 100 is the fourth race of the season for the ASALMS
Northern Division.
The ASALMS Southern Division swings back into action with the first of two
appearances at the famed Birmingham (AL) International Raceway in Birmingham,
Alabama on Saturday July 14, 2007 with the running of the Crimson 125. The
Fifth Race of the season for the Southern Division cars and stars.
Then a week later, the ASALMS Challenge Division is back on action on Friday
and Saturday July 20-21, 2007 with the running of the Virginia/Radfest 200 at
the Motor Mile (VA) Speedway, which is South of the Virginia/West Virginia
border is Radford, Virginia. This will be the eighth event of the season for
“America’s Premiere Short Track Series”.
To complete the Month of July, the ASALMS Northern Division heads up to the
Rockford (IL) Speedway, located just outside of Rockford in Loves Park,
Illinois on Saturday July 28, 2007 for the Rockford 100. This event will be
the halfway marker of the 2007 Racing Season for the ASALMS Northern Division
contingent.
August begins with the most anticipated event in ASALMS history! The cars and
stars of the ASALMS Challenge Division will take on the famed Bristol (TN)
Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee on Friday and Saturday August 3-4, 2007
for perhaps the biggest event in the entire country for Short Track Stock Car
Racing; The Thunder Valley 200, the ninth race of the Fifth Anniversary 2007
Season for the ASALMS Challenge Division.
The ASALMS Southern Division returns to action and marks off their halfway
point of the 2007 season as a return appearance at the Orange County (NC)
Speedway, located North of Raleigh/Durham in Rougemont, North Carolina on
Saturday August 11, 2007 with the Orange County 125.
Then a tradition continues in the ASALMS home state of Michigan on Friday and
Saturday August 17-18, 2007 as the 3rd annual Mid-Michigan Doubles Weekend
Presented by the Michigan Racing Scene will see the cars and stars of the
ASALMS Northern Division take to two different tracks on two consecutive
nights in the Great Lakes State.
Night One of the 3rd annual Mid-Michigan Doubles Weekend is set for Friday
August 17, 2007 as the ASALMS makes its’ first ever appearance at the track
closest to the ASALMS home offices in Lexington, Michigan. The Dixie (MI)
Motor Speedway, which is North of Flint and South of Saginaw in Birch Run,
Michigan will host the Wolverine 100.
Then the next night is Day Two of the Doubles Weekend and at the only track on
any of the 2007 Schedules that was on the original 2003 USPRO Cup Series
Schedule; The Owosso (MI) Speedway, which is located Northeast of the capital
city of Lansing in Ovid, Michigan is the site for the Great Lakes 100 on
Saturday August 18, 2007.
The month of August ends with a very pivotal event for the ASALMS Challenge
Division as they come off the widely anticipated event in Bristol, Tennessee.
The 10th race of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 season for the ASALMS Challenge
Division will be at the famed Milwaukee (WI) Mile, which is just West of town
in West Allis, Wisconsin. Friday and Saturday August 24-25, 2007 is the dates
for the Governors Cup 150, the last event before the Challenge Division Season
Championships to be held in Late September in Pensacola, Florida.
The marathon 21 Races in 20 straight weekends will end over the Labor Day
holiday weekend with a return trip to the Hawkeye Downs (IA) Speedway in Cedar
Rapids, Iowa. This time the ASALMS Northern Division comes to town for the
eighth race on their 2007 calender; The Labor Day 100 on Saturday September 1,
2007.
A well deserved weekend off for the entire ASALMS contingent occurs for the
first time since Mid-April over the weekend of September 7-9, 2007. Then the
ASALMS Southern Division gets things going again with there seventh race of
the season at the New Senoia (GA) Raceway, located South of Atlanta in Senoia,
Georgia on Saturday September 15, 2007 for the Peach State 100.
The ASALMS Northern and Southern Divisions collide on Friday, Saturday, and
Sunday Sept 21-22-23, 2007 as the I-70 (MO) Speedway returns to the schedule
with the running of the North VS South Shootout/World Cup 200. For the
Northern Division, this is the last event before their Season Championships!
The month of September ends with the ASALMS Challenge Division Season
Championships on Friday and Saturday September 28-29, 2007 as the Five Flags
(FL) Speedway in Pensacola, Florida will crown the 2007 ASALMS Challenge
Division Champion and the 2007 Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year in the
Pensacola 200.
October begins with another ASALMS tradition; The ASALMS Northern Division
will conduct their 2007 Season Championships during the 38th annual
Oktoberfest Weekend on Saturday October 6, 2007 at the LaCrosse (WI)
Fairgrounds Speedway, which is East of LaCrosse in West Salem, Wisconsin. The
Oktoberfest 100 will see the crowning of the 2007 ASALMS Northern Division
Champion and Rookie of the Year.
That same day, the ASALMS Southern Division will be much farther South for
All-American Challenge 125 at the Desoto (FL) Super Speedway, located South of
Tampa in Bradenton, Florida. The dates for the ninth race of the ASALMS
Southern Division season is Friday and Saturday October 5-6, 2007.
The LaCrosse and Desoto dates are the only events in the entire 2007 ASALMS
Schedules that conflict with each other.
After a week off, the ASALMS Southern Division returns to action with the 10th
race of the season and last show before they crown their respective 2007
champions. The historic Hickory (NC) Motor Speedway, which is North of
Charlotte in Hickory, North Carolina on Saturday October 20, 2007 for the
Hickory 125.
Finally the points chases come to an end for the ASALMS Southern Division a
weekend later on Saturday October 27, 2007 as the 2007 ASALMS Southern
Division Champion and Rookie of the Year will be crowned at the series’
second and final appearance of the season at the Birmingham (AL) International
Raceway in Birmingham, Alabama for the ASALMS Southern Division Season
Championships 125.
The 2007 season for the ASALMS overall comes to a close a weekend later as the
Music City (TN) Motorplex in Nashville, Tennessee will see all three divisions
come together to end the Fifth Anniversary 2007 campaign as part of the 25th
annual All-American 400 Weekend with the non-points ASALMS All-American 200 on
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday November 2-3-4, 2007.
