Lexington, Michigan (01/30/2007): In the Series "Where Champions Race" the cars and stars of the ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Presented by GM Performance Parts will go to some of the most famous race tracks in short track Auto Racing today!

The heralded Bristol (TN) Motor Speedway is on the schedule, so is the brand new, state of the art Iowa (IA) Speedway. Historic short tracks such as the Berlin (MI) Raceway, Cayuga (ON) Motorsports Park, Five Flags (FL) Speedway, Hawkeye Downs (IA) Speedway, Music City (TN) Motorplex, and the Toledo (OH) Speedway also adorn the 2007 schedule for the crown jewel of the ASALMS.

Of course the teams can’t forget about the rest of the 2007 season beginning at the San Antonio (TX) Speedway for the 2007 Season Opener, which is just over four weeks away! Plus the Motor Mile (VA) Speedway is brand new to the ASALMS Challenge Division travels and the state of Virginia will experience the ASALMS Challenge Division for the first time ever.

There's one track on the schedule that every driver in the United States has circled over and over on their calendar, knowing the history and prestige that comes with racing at The Milwaukee (WI) Mile, the world's oldest active speedway, and biggest track facing the ASALMS drivers this season.

The ASALMS Challenge Division will head to the historic 1.032 Mile Semi-Banked Paved Oval on Friday and Saturday August 24-25 for the running of the Governors Cup 150. The 10th race of the Fifth Anniversary 2007 schedule for the crown jewel of the ASALMS, the Challenge Division, will highlight the Saturday portion of the Governors Cup weekend and will certainly play a role in the championship picture, as will the Challenge Division Season Championships the following month in Pensacola, Florida.

"The Milwaukee Mile is such a special place to go to. Every driver in the country hopes to one day race at least one time at The Mile and we're very fortunate to return once again for the Governors Cup Weekend," ASALMS Co-Founder/President, Ron Varney said. "The Mile staff treats us the same as if NASCAR was in town. It's a very special place for sure and we're so very honored to go back once again, especially during our Fifth Anniversary Season." Varney stated.

In the 2006 version of the Governors Cup 150, Mauston, Wisconsin's Kelly Bires clinched the 2006 Pat Bourdow Memorial Rookie of the Year title with two points races remaining by dominating the event, in his first race at The Mile. It was a huge win for Bires' and his WalTom Racing team, being based just 15 miles west of The Milwaukee Mile in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Bires took the lead from another Wisconsin driver, Madison veteran, Chad Wood on lap 20 and never looked back en route to the Feature Win. Wood, who bested 44 other machines in qualifying, finished second while Jake Ryan, Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame driver Butch Miller and Eddie Hoffman completed the Top Five.

As the last qualifier to take an attempt, Wood established an impressive 29.228 second track record for the ASALMS Challenge Division at The Mile. An all-time high 33 cars out of the 45 who attempted to qualify took the green flag.

"We look forward to hosting some of the country's best short track stock car racers competing in the Governor's Cup 150 for the ASALMS Challenge Division on Saturday Afternoon, August 25th." Stated Milwaukee Mile President and C.E.O., Andy Randall. "We value the importance of being the longest track on the series' schedule, which provides big track experience for the talented drivers who aspire to move on to NASCAR's top divisions," he added.

An estimated 200 race cars will be competing on an all-stock car weekend at America's Legendary Oval, the ASALMS Challenge Division will be joined by the ARCA Re/Max Series, the Mid-American Stock Car Series and another late model division to be announced during the speedway's traditional Governor's Cup weekend, which ends on Sunday August 26th.

The Milwaukee Mile continues to be one of America's premier, tradition laden auto racing venues. Motorized racing events date back to the first ever race at The Mile in September of 1903, with a virtual who's-who list of motorsports legends that have competed on the challenging oval. Not resting on it's history, The Mile has invested over $23 Million in just the last five years in facility improvements for race fans and competitors alike.

This coming year, The Milwaukee Mile will host the IndyCar Series in the ABC Supply / A.J. Foyt 225 on Sunday, June 3rd, a return to tradition with all the stars of the Indy 500 racing at The Mile the following weekend. The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Busch Series visit The Mile on back-to-back nights, June 22nd and 23rd, respectively. In addition to full season tickets, a money-saving Stock Car Package is offered to encompass both NASCAR events and the entire Governor's Cup Weekend.

A fan participation season kick-off event is planned at The Mile on Sunday May 6th, where fans can drive their own vehicle around the speedway. Over 400 cars are expected to be displayed in the classic car show. Admission to participate in this annual "Drive The Mile" affair is $15 and two non-perishable food items for the Hunger Task Force.

The Milwaukee Mile is a 1.032 Mile Semi-Banked Paved and Symmetrical Oval with 9.25 degrees of banking in corners and a slight incline of 2.5 degrees of banking on straightaways. The Milwaukee Mile is located six miles west of downtown Milwaukee along I-94, in an urban setting on the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, minutes from the Milwaukee County Zoo, Miller Park, home of Major League Baseballs' Milwaukee Brewers, Milwaukee's lakefront and prime shopping at Mayfair Mall.

The address for the track is at 7722 West Greenfield Avenue on the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds in West Allis, Wisconsin 5214. Call The Milwaukee Mile ticket office at: 1 (414) 453-8277 or visit the speedway's website at; Milwaukee Mile.com for more details.
