Numbers are now open and available to new teams.

By: ASA Late Model Series

Lexington, Michigan (11/16/2006): The ASA Late Model Series presented by GM Performance Parts 2006 season is technically over with just the two non-points/indoors events remaining at the DeVos (MI) Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

On Saturday and Sunday December 16-17, 2006, the ASALMS will make history with its' first ever indoors extravaganza as part of the Mason-Dixon/Dixieland Challenge II at the massive DeVos (MI) Place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both events will showcase the best of the best from all divisions of ASALMS racing and give our teams a great send off for the season.

As an added bonus for the Mason-Dixon/Dixieland Challenge II, the 50-lap Features will now pay $3000 to win and if one driver can sweep both 50-lap main events, a bonus $1000 will be added for an impressive $7000 weekend!

The 2006 Annual Awards Banquet will be held on January 20, 2007 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Louisville, Kentucky. We will celebrate all three divisions at the event and award plenty of cash and prizes. Earlier in the day we will host the 2007 Annual Owner/Driver’s meeting and give teams a chance to share their ideas.

Marking the end of the 2006 season, 2007 Registration is open in the ASALMS and numbers are now open to all teams for the upcoming 2007 campaign, which marks the fifth anniversary of the ASALMS.

The ASALMS Home Offices do need to have the 2007 license application completed even though you filled out the same form in 2006. This is for insurance purposes and needs to be done each year.

The 2007 license application will allow you to register for one division or all three on the same form. The cost for the license includes the driver, owner and number. License applications are available on the websites under downloads or by scrolling down this press release and downloading the needed forms.

If the driver and owner are different, each one needs to complete the application and submit it to the ASA Late Model Series Office. (You do not need to pay the license application fee twice, just the forms)

The 2007 season will mandate that teams register the crew chief and spotter for the team. These crew members must have ASA Late Model Series Licenses. If you have more than one spotter, all of them must be licensed. These crew members need to complete the license application and submit it to the ASA Late Model Series Office.

If you have a W-9 on file and nothing has changed, you do not need to resubmit that form. Minor releases need to be redone for the 2007 for anyone under the age of 18; This is mandatory.

All forms can be faxed to; 1 (810) 359-5985 or mailed to the ASA Late Model Series office at 7360 Elm Street, Lexington, Michigan, 48450. Payments for the licensed can be made with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card.

Please remember that it is your responsibility to contact the office to renew the number. We have over 200 teams and although the ASALMS will try to work with everyone, it may not be possible to hand call each team to renew these numbers.

The 2007 license applications are available on all three sites under the downloads sections.

The 2006 season was a year of major growth for the ASALMS teams and series and it has proven to be a success for all. 2007 will see some changes that will benefit our teams and continue to build on our foundation; the ASALMS teams as we celebrate the fifth anniversary of the ASALMS.

The series will re-institute the ‘Winner’s Circle Program’, which will reward the teams that come out to the majority of our events. The series points fund in all three divisions will see some growth as well as a couple of bonus programs that will reward our teams.

The accelerated growth of the series in 2006 was a major undertaking for the series officials and teams. There was a bit of a learning curve involved that comes with every venture. We all saw our good days and our bad days, but at the end of the day or in this case (season), we are ready to head down that road again.

We hope many of you will join us and work with us to continue to make this the best late model series in the country.

The success we have had has always come in a package that includes the series, teams, officials, sponsors, tracks and fans. In 2007 we will stay that course and continue to build on that. Throughout the country short track racing sees its share of struggle and hardship, together we can do our share to bring back the glory days of short track late model racing.
