at the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids,
Michigan on December 16-17 to close out the 2006 ASA Late Model Series
season.
By: ASA Late Model Series
Lexington, Michigan (11/07/2006): The ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM
Performance Parts has just completed a history making 2006 season. With the
growth from one to three traveling divisions, the 2006 season is one of the
biggest success stories in the world of stock car racing in the United States.
Hot off a very successful 24th annual All-American 400 Weekend in Nashville,
Tennessee that saw a series record 61 machines make their way to Music City,
the ASALMS will embark on yet another history making event on Saturday and
Sunday December 16-17, 2006 to officially close out the 2006 season.
The first ever indoors sanctioned event in the ASALMS soon to be five year
history is upon us as the two day show inside the DeVos Place in Grand Rapids,
Michigan; the Mason-Dixon/Dixieland Challenge II is set for Saturday and
Sunday December 16-17, 2006.
The DeVos Place will feature a true indoor 1/4 mile concrete oval inside the
massive downtown Grand Rapids building. The ASALMS will join in on the
festivities on Saturday and Sunday December 16-17, 2006.
Also on hand during the big three day show inside the massive 162,000 Square
Foot Exhibit Hall inside the DeVos Place will be Outlaw Bodied Pavement Super
Late Models as well as the UMP Dirt Super Late Models, Open Wheeled UMP Dirt
Modifieds, and Sportsmen, who will all take part in this history making event.
The ASALMS portion of the weekend will be ASALMS sanctioned/non-points events
utilizing the world renowned Template Body/Crate Engine package that has made
the ASALMS so successful in such a short time as the series looks ahead to
its’ fifth anniversary season in 2007.
The Mason-Dixon/Dixieland Challenge II will see both Northern/Southern
Division procedures implemented as there will be two complete shows over the
weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday, the ASALMS will run a complete show each
night of Qualifying, a GM Performance Parts Shootout if needed, and each
evening will be highlighted by a thrilling 50-lap Feature!
“This is going to be such a neat event not only for the great fans of
Michigan, but for our teams as well.” Stated ASALMS Co-Founder/President,
Ron Varney. “This will give the fans a chance to see our cars and stars in
an intimate setting as well as chase away those winter blues by seeing some
great ASALMS racing indoors.” He added.
“What a great opportunity it is to add the ASA Late Model Series to the
second annual Mason-Dixon Dixieland Challenge! Especially with the past
history of the old ASA and the new history of the ASA Late Model Series in the
Grand Rapids area.” Added George Keen. “It’s going to be a special
weekend to see the ASALMS in the middle of December, I can’t wait!” Keen
added.
