The ASA Late Model Series Looks Ahead to 2007; Partial Schedules Released
By ASA Late Model Series
Lexington, Michigan (10/26/2006): The ASA Late Model Series presented by GM
Performance Parts is pleased to announce a partial 2007 schedule. The
series officials understand how difficult it can be for teams to seek
Marketing opportunities without this vital information and we will work to
have the complete schedules within a couple of weeks.
The 2006 season while still in action has completed all the points events for
the season. Three Champions have been crowned; The 89 Kelly Bires of
Waltom Racing in our Challenge Division, The 81 of Jesse Smith in our North
Division and the 2 James Buescher of Turner Motorsports in the South
Division.
The 2006 Rookie of the Year Awards for each division were awarded to; the 89
Kelly Bires of Waltom Racing for the Challenge Division, The 95 Derek Neville
for the North Division and the 2 James Buescher of Turner Motorsports for the
South Division.
We would like to congratulate each of those teams and also thank each and
every team that participated with us during the 2006 season. It is the
high caliber of competition and skill that makes the ASA Late Model Series the
top late model series in the country.
Please mark your calendars for the All American 400 at the Music City
Motorplex in Nashville for November 3rd, 4th and 5th; this is an all division
invitational non-points events. Also, to close out the season, the
series will host and indoor event on December 16th and 17th at the DeVos Place
in Grand Rapids, MI.
The series and teams will once again embark on a three division tour for the
2007 season; The Challenge, North and South Divisions will all be in action
and up to full speed. We are looking at a 10-12 event schedule for each
division and are hoping to have no overlaps of dates between divisions this
upcoming season.
The series will also re-institute the Winners Circle Program which will add
some incentive to those that complete all the events in their divisions and
also some Bonus programs for those teams that run full programs in more than
one division. We had much success with these programs during the 2004
and 2005 season and regret not having this program in place during the 2006
season.
The Winners Circle Programs will range from $1250 to $6500 per eligible team
and is based solely on participation. This program has great value
because it helps all the teams, not just the teams that are high up in the
point standing.
The series will also award a year end points fund for all divisions for the
2007 season for the top 15 teams. Teams can expect to see some marginal
increases in the purse as well as some events that have special purses
tailored for those individual events.
The 2007 partial schedules are as follows and please note that these are
tentative and subject to change. The complete schedules are expected in
November and we will announce the additional dates as they are
confirmed.

The ASA Late Model Series has been a main stay in short track racing for the
past four seasons and is very excited about heading into our 5th season.
We can boast about having the best teams, companies and tracks as partners
because our history proves that. We have developed strong ties in this
industry and continue to build on that with those that are dedicated to the
sport.
The ASA Late Model Series began its journey in 2003 with the Michigan based
USPRO Racing Series which evolved into the ASA Late Model Series it
is today during the 2004, 2005 and 2006 season. We have hundreds of
teams that participate, dozens of tracks and plenty of support from the top
companies in the industry.
It is our belief that to be successful the teams, tracks and sponsors all need
to work together. Short track racing over the past decade has seen its
share of trouble and it is the dedication of those committed to the sport that
will help bring it back to its glory days. We as a series want to be a
vital part of that rebuilding and hope to see many new participants join up
with us for the upcoming season.
