West Bend, Wisconsin (08/16/2006): History was made at the televised ASA Late Model Series Challenge Division Presented by GM Performance Parts’ eighth race of the 2006 season. The youngest driver in ASALMS history made his debut in the crown jewel of the ASALMS, the televised Challenge Division.

By taking the green flag to begin the Adirondack 200 at the Adirondack (NY) International Speedway in New Bremen, New York on Saturday August 12, 2006, 13-year-old Trevor Dassow, the younger brother of the “Patriarch of the Young Lions of the ASALMS”, Travis Dassow, etched his name in the ASALMS record books.

The former multi-time World Champion in Snowmobiles Competition made his first official start in a full bodied stock car and at one of the most unusual shaped tracks on the schedule; The uniquely shaped ½ mile semi-banked circular paved oval in upstate New York.

“It was a great experience to run with the ASALMS Challenge Division, I never thought that my first start as a race car driver would be in the ASALMS and plus to be able to have the chance to run against my brother!” The 13-year-old stated.

"I want to thank all of the drivers who were so patient with me in practice and in the race, even though I didn’t get to run too many laps in the Feature.” Laughed Dassow.

After qualifying 20th out of the 26 cars on hand to start the Adirondack 200 from the outside of the 10th row, the West Bend, Wisconsin teenager made all of two laps before dropping an axle, ending his night a bit earlier than he had planned.

"Although the race was very short for me it was a great experience to start a race and get to go around the track with other drivers." Continued the young Dassow. "The axle fell out of the car causing only one tire to be putting the power to the ground, so I just pulled off instead of getting in everyone’s way." Explained Dassow.

"It was such a great experience to average over 100 plus MPH around a race track in race conditions instead of by myself.” Remarked Dassow. “I want to thank all of the people that came down for autographs and for cheering for me, I’m sorry I didn’t last very long in the race.” He added.

The younger Dassow benefited from two other machines pulling out after only a lap with handling difficulties and would be scored 24th in the finishing order.

“I also have to thank my dad and my brother for giving me the opportunity to drive this weekend. To be able to talk with and drive with all of the people that I look up to and still look up too on race weekends! I have some pretty big shoes to fill in the ASALMS following my brother.” The 13-year-old ended.

Trevor began his racing career in snowmobiles at age three, he accumulated four state and four world championships. At age five, Trevor began racing go-karts at a variety of tracks through the Midwest and won two track championships.

The 13-year-old took off a year of racing in 2005 in snowmobiling to learn more about ASALMS racing by working with his brother, Travis Dassow. Every week Trevor helps on his brother's crew, in the shop and at the track. He hopes to follow in his brother's career.

Dassow has been testing and tuning at local tracks in Wisconsin throughout the 2006 season up to this point. If he is able to find additional sponsorship, Trevor will compete in more races at the end of the year.

For the remainder of the 2006 season, 13-year-old Trevor Dassow and the T.D. Racing Team hopes to make a few more appearances between the televised ASALMS Challenge Division as well as the ASALMS Northern Division to keep the younger Dassow’s rookie eligibility intact for the 2007 season.

Like his older brother, Trevor Dassow carries primary sponsorship for the 2006 season on the side of his Pontiac Grand Prix from the Chicago Regional Council of Carpentry as well as Osborn and Sons Trucking of Fon du Lac, Wisconsin.
